Montagna: I want to play on Judd

Post: # 537094Post gO.SainTs »

I was told that Monty was on the radio before saying he wanted to play on Judd. Does anyone actually know what he said?

i think this would be one of the best match ups of the season.

You have the up and coming leigh montagna who many rate (i one of them) and so do the afl dreamteam people. off the top of my head he is one of our most expensive players.

Against chris 'im carlton's best player/captain already' judd. To many he is one of the best players. And at times yes he is but he wont be against us.

i think joey would do an amazing job on judd seeing as bakes is out still

Interesting match up it would be :D For some reason, I can't wait to see King and Gardiner against Ackland...

from yesterdays press conferance
http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/ ... 72,00.html
The Saints believe they can improve on the form they showed in beating Sydney last Saturday night and Montagna welcomed the prospect of lining up on Blues skipper Chris Judd.

"I'm pretty sure (coach) Ross (Lyon) will be keen to get someone to Judd, you don't want to let him run free even if he is only 70, 80 per cent fit like they're talking about," he said.

"If I do have to play on him that's fine, I've got no qualms with that, I'd look forward to the challenge."

Would be an interesting match-up. Would it be in our best interests to tage Judd with Joey, considering Brett Ratten is probably wanting to tag Joey, who is one of our best playmakers in the middle?

Maybe start with Leigh Fisher on Judd since he did such a good job on Goodes, if he's getting touched up early then use Montagna as a plan B.

yeah that's a good point you make.

i think we should move joey onto him depending on how the game is running by about the start of the 2nd quarter.

Bit hard to judge.

with judd losing that burst of pace I think fish will be a very good pick for a run with role, or he could go with stevens and bring in birss for fizz to run with judd

Judd is one of the greatest players I have ever seen.

I hope he gets back to his best sooner rather than later; he makes football an absolute joy to watch, regardless of the colours he wears.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

To use your own phrase from another thread Rodg..thats utter garbage...

We are all over the media hype of the last few months..but to call Chris Judd a sniper and/or a thug is just wrong IMHO

I don't think the thread title is an accurate representation of what he said.

Given the answer he gave I doubt he's the one who will be getting the job.

Elbowing Baker when he wasn't looking, and geye ouging Campbell Brown are both acts of thuggery and cowardess.

He's only 24, and has already been reported for these 2 serious offences. Guys like Johnson, West and Harvey and others have played 300 games and been tagged twice as hard as Judd - yet have smaller rap sheets than him.

Ball is a better matchup for Judd

Montagna should go to either Stevens or Murphy if you really want him to tag somebody.

Am I the only one that thinks L.Fisher would be destroyed by Judd?
I would rather see Ball on Judd because pace and fitness should no longer be the issue and he can read play better than either Leighs IMO...
They pointed it out on the NAB analyser that Judd pushes people away from where he wants his space in the centre, as long as whoever plays on him, whether it is Monty, Fish or Ball they should do fine...
Murphy is the bigger threat at this point in the season IMO...
I also wouldn't mind seeing someone give Simpson some close attention and Hayes V Scotland would be a good match up for us IMO...

L Fischer I dont think would be the go. L Ball is fantastic in close but couldnt keep up at the moment. Montagna yeah, but then there is one of our run and carry mids effectively out of the game. What to do? Hmm, at least there are options though.

Ball or X on Judd for me. Joey seems like a logical matchup for Marc Murphy. Hayes head-to-head with Stevens. Maybe L. Fisher to Gibbs.

Yeah nah pleasing positive

Personally I'd worry more about who they can match up on Hayes, Montagna, Dal Santo, and X rather than who will play on Judd. All 4 of those players are better than their second tier mids, except perhaps Murphy vs X.

Play Milne on Gibbs.
