Michael Gardiner was great

Post: # 559877Post perfectionist »

I thought his ruck work was exceptional and probably was responsible for the win. He played more time than planned I reckon but there was little choice in the end. Kosi's last quarter was good but he does not have the natural feel of a ruckman. Gardiner and King is what we need, but we seem cursed.

If my memory is right, we've won every game Gardiner has played.

Yes, wins against Sydney, Carlton and now Richmond - 3/3 for Gardiner

I think it was Wayne Schwass who gave the 'bads'?

We need Gardy or King to play every week, preferably both of them, or we are going nowhere.

Kosi is not a ruckman's arsehole.

3 possessions is good?

Rix used to get more than that.

Lance or James??

"bads"!! What game was Schwass at? Amongst the Saints and Tiger players there were some strong contenders for "bad", but Gardiner,M wasn't one of them. Who was that Richmond player who kicked the ball to two, not one, Saints players in the centre in the last quarter?

in the ruck Gards looks very good, but all up looked a bit under done tonight, didn't seem to spend much time on the ground

but Kosi got absolutely smashed by Symonds in the ruck, hopefully next round we'll have King back

Well his stats should have had one extra kick and goal.....

Gardi looked ok...but also looked like he had not playeda match fora month.

He will be better for the run...and I hope we have King back with him for the ruck in the Pies game.

In the first half Gardiner competed well in the ruck but we got beaten in the clearances.

Most of the second half Kosi got smashed in the hitouts - we got beaten in the clearances.

Final quarter it looked like Kosi had just decided to concede the hitouts - at one stage Riewoldt jumped over him to try to get a fist on a ball-up - at another X tried the same thing  perhaps Kosi was figuring he could act as another midfielders and we might win win more ball from the middle. We still got beaten in the clearances.

Tiges won the HOs 43 to 30.

Simmonds was very good and Pattison only had short bursts in the ruck.

Gardi was ok to good in the ruck...but Kosi played a lot as the ruck...I suspect because Gardi had been out for a month.

If you thought Gardiner was great, you must have been watching a match from 2003 when he wore the blue and gold. He's not in our best 22.

While I'm on it, Maguire and Raph Clarke were disgraceful. Neither of them deserve a match. Bring on Jarryd Allen and get Max back into the team.

Some of Gardiners center taps were excellent, but he burnt all his tickets in under two quarters of footy.
Kosi is still our third to fourth rated ruckman, and didnt do much on the night to affect the game.... Symmonds smashed us.
We probably have 6 more games to sort out our center setup.
But at this stage our ruck list seems to be in order King, Gardiner, Rix, Kosi, Blake. So McEvoy has a few to jump, so lets hope he has the goods to back up the talk.

Perhaps if we look at it this way...Gardi was better than Rix....but not as good as he has been for us this year.

Hardly trained since hurt himself. Was short of a run and only played because we had no real options.
