No Change...one would think???

Post: # 580750Post saintsRrising »

It is not often that the Saints have No Change for a team selection.

But one would think it is likely this week.....unless there is an injury that we do not know about.

*No bad players at all last week.

*No Saints played for Casey of the VFL to press their claim for inclusion

*Bakes on the training track was heavilay bandaged and not looking too fit...according to training watchers. Plus he lacks match practice.

Only possible in could be X Clarke. Not sure if he's fit yet, but he'd be the only one considered.

Probably have a week at Casey though.

Yes agree, I would be very happy for the same team to play.

Xavier is shown on the injury list as having One Week. Wont be playing anywhere this week.

No changes would be smart on build on everyones confidence. However I would I would like to see Xavier come in for Geary or Dempster when he is match fit.

take that with a grain of salt....often is misleading and plain wrong.

X has had many weeks to get over his hammy, and we could deserperately use his run.

Without X we are a very very slim chance of winning, with him we are a slight chance!

out blake

havent given it much thought as to an in to replace him

to become an elite team we need 22 solid players who dont create hospital passes through both kicking and handballing...a basic facet of the game

he fails

I would have thought that Blake would be needed to play on Minson (and Hudson when they swap)?

If not, we are missing a 'tall' down back.

Not much, but Blake would be a better defender on Minson than Rix, I would have thought?

Max to take Johnson
Fisher to take Welsh
Blake to take Minson

Bakes in for Geary would be the only change I can see. However, they might opt to not bring in an underdone Baker.

X looked alright at training yesterday, but I doubt there will be any changes.

Rix would have to do a lot to get back in the side even on a horses-for-courses basis.

Bakes has all but been ruled out, X hasn't been mentioned but I would hope he gets a game at Casey to find some form.

I would hate to say this, but looking at the team lists, you'd probably have to drop Clint Jones for him.

Last time the Saints played the Dogs the HO stats were.

Minson 19

Hudson 9

Cross 2 (third man up??)

King 19

Kosi

Blake 3

Roo 1

So even though I do not know how long Minson spent in the ruck, his HO stats would suggesta fair bit for that game.

I also had a look at the HO stats of Minosn and Huson for the year....it is up and down a lot as to who wins the most HO's...so that may indicate that Raed mixes them around a bit.

With Goose out all year, Blake must stay in and play CHB. Defensively he is a good option and will allow Chippa to run off half back without having to think about shutting down a gun CHF.

Indeed..

I would imagine that Blake would stay in at least until Gilbert returns.

Blake's form as a defender has been quite reasonable....and importantly his spoling has improved. He probably is the second best spoiler in derfence behind Max.

The reports on Baker would certainly suggest he is at least another week away.

Xavier hasn't had much talk this week however the official list says another week.

No players played badly enough to warrant a spell at Casey so an unchanged lineup would suit nicely.

McEvoy, McQualter and C.Gardiner/Gwilt on the extended bench.

Will be interesting to see how Baker and co. go this week however the likely return dates would be:

X.Clarke - Round 12
S.Baker - Round 13
S.Gilbert - Round 15

Hopefully its a matter of squeezing players out rather than injuries/extreme poor form.
