Fraser Gehrig

Post: # 635041Post LENNY LEADS THE WAY »

Trained well today from all reports.

Thought i'd start a thread on him so we can discuss the pro's and cons of him playing a final.

Personally i don't think we can risk going in with him although how cool would it be to see the 3 divas back in action together ROO, GEHRIG, KOSI with milne and schneider at there fit.

Gehrig would take some of the focus off Roo but it's just to risky.

Thoughts people?

Only if one of Roo or Kosi gets injured.

I'd love to see a fully fit G-Train, raring to go again in the red, white and black... but not at the expense of the current team balance.

if we'd been winning the ball around the ground as we have been lately and pumping it in there quickly it could have been devastating.

unfortunately fraser's papers have pretty much been signed and we've almost certainly seen the last of him.

would upset the structure that has taken most of the season to get working properly.

but it's not a time to think about what might have been.

if rooey was to be injured gehrig would be nxt best in before allen ect for a finals game.

if his fitness is up to scratch and he can put presser on the defenders trying to clear the ball then he would be the nxt option.

go sainter>>>>

If Riewoldt was injured, I'd rate him about a 25% to play.

I'd say he's not training for fun.

Don't be suprised he plays in the coming weeks peoples....

The way he looked today, the big fella isn't done yet.

If Gehrig walked out there KNOWING he was playing his last few games and got going early in the first quarter with a few goals, the opposition would be in trouble.

it's an interesting one. would he offer more than, say, gwilt as a leading forward?

but i'd say the feeling down there (rightly or wrongly) is it would be too risky.

Why play him in a few weeks?

Wouldn't it make more sense to play him this week in a game that's not a knock out match.

Huge risk to play him in a elimination final.

I reckon IF we're going to play him then play him this week.

He's been training every week throughout the year.

(But I personally would love to see him out there because I personally love him)

Imagine him sprinting to the goal square with that steely look before the start of a final, and rag-dolling Scarlett....

Would it suprise you?

It wouldn't suprise me, that's why i'm thinking it's a possibility.

Gehrig surrounded by an inform Milne & Schneider, our delivery has also been cleaner the last few weeks.

I always thought that the reason the 3 big guys up front didn't work consistently was becasue we played at TD. On the more open spaces of the 'G, I reckon Roo, Kozi and Frase could be devastating.

Only problem with him coming in this week would be Scarlett - kills him every time with his rebound.

Certainly not against Scarlett, who would run off him all day as in past games. .............. we need someone like Roo who can turn the tables around and run off and expose Scarlett.

would scarlett take him though. Considering he hasn't played all year, scarlett would take our number 1 forward, being roo!

Only if Roo AND Kosi were injured would I consider playing the G-Train. There is a big difference between being able to look good running a couple of laps and completing some drills to being match fit for an AFL final.

Scarlett likes to play closest to goal, thats why Fraze always got sucked in by wrestling with him around the square, then Scarlett takes off and recieves and Fraze is left embarrased, Scarlett kicked two goals on him in one match if I recall because Fraze could not chase him.
Roo would be too mobile for him, and I think it will worry the pussys
I imagine that Scarlett would take on Fraze (if in the unlikely event he played.)
IMO Roo will play FF and Scarlett will only play on him when he is well forward. he has not got the motor to go with Roo

If he is truly fit enough, I would name him on the extended bench for Sunday and then have a bit of a think about it.

Even if he didn't take the field, the whole idea would certainly set (as it were) a pigeon among the Cats!!

I'm an old sentimentalist, and I'd love to see him play in the role that C Gardiner has played in the last few weeks.

But I can also understand why othe posters might feel differently.

Surely form is something you have to take into consideration. Yes there was a time, a bit ago where Fraser was a first choice player in the 22. Now is a completely different story.

I would have thought the kind of attacking game the saints are playing now would really suit Fraser.

Playing on Scarlett is a worry though.
