He's the only eligible player likely to get more than 10 games...

It's hard to know for certain because Ross rates some players and doesn't rate others and it can often be hard to ascertain why from the outside. But Steven is a talent and he is a type of player that we need, he brings some skill, speed and toughness into the side.ausfatcat wrote:I would be surprised if he plays 10 games
I would be surprised if Steven and Geary played less than 30 games between them in 2009. However it would probably mean that we are having a great run with injuries...

Jarryn Geary is eligible. Neither Geary nor Steven would have much chance of winning the actual award though. Then again, the pickings are a little slim this year. Bradd Dalziell is ineligable by less than 12 months, which gives everyone else a chance. Stephen Hill and Daniel Rich don't exactly look like Joel Selwood or even Rhys Palmer. I don't think there's a clear favourite at this point. A guy could come in late and play 15-20 games and outperform the 22-gamers and take the award. I wouldn't be betting on it being one of ours though.Armoooo wrote:He's the only eligible player likely to get more than 10 games...
My guess is the winner will come from Adelaide or Fremantle.

Eddy is ineligible, I'm not sure about Geary,he has played 10 games so I think he might actually be eligible...

To be honest Rising Star doesn't mean much other than encouraging a kid along. If they're any good they'll be analysed and have a plan applied to limit their effectiveness - then you really see whether they are any good or not. It's a bit of a token award.
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

I tell you what I wouldn't mind having the last two rising stars in our midfield...PJ wrote:To be honest Rising Star doesn't mean much other than encouraging a kid along. Your right but that's how many players out of 22 nominations? If you've got the winner you're on a winner but a good deal of the others fire up for one or two matches then get found out.PJ wrote:

That's a good point, especially those who get nominated in the later rounds...PJ wrote:Your right but that's how many players out of 22 nominations? If you've got the winner you're on a winner but a good deal of the others fire up for one or two matches then get found out.PJ wrote:
