Run, Joey, RUN!

Post: # 727086Post SaintDebi »

Don't know if its been mentioned elsewhere, but did anyone else get a kick out of wathing little Joey running full pelt down the wing with Freo's giant Sandilands hot on his heels behind him?
You could almost feel the thump, thump of the big man's feet as they thudded along. No wonder Joey ran! Wonder if he knew just how close he was. For a big, ugly git, that guy can move!

He was taking one step to Joey's two, such was the difference in leg sizes.

At least Sandilands kept up the chase, and didn't give up like most of his team-mates.

Funny you should raise that, both my mate and I noticed that.

I was having a chuckle as that was happening, it was like big steps small steps, certainly looked odd.

Love to see a replay of that. It seemed the gap between them just didn't change the whole way!

I was at the game with 2 freo supporter mates from perth and they reckon he is top 10 in time trials at freo and good at picking the ball up at ground level. 7 foot tall rover?

He was good a couple of years ago when the dockers were going well.

only me second chance to watch a replay-

this was about 5 min to go in the first quarter
i remembet hinking a t the time- just one more bounce and joey could have almost kicked the goal himself whichwould have made it a great run

But watching on replay you don't see Sandilands for the first few bounces and then he comes into shot...

Was a 9 second chase - between 5:34 and 5:25 to go in the first - and for a bloke of 211cm and 125kg, shite he did well.

Extremely comical though and someone with youtube skills must upload it.

The roar through the stadium was fantastic, and it was almost as if everyone wanted the big fella to catch Joey...

I thought Monty would leave him for did.
But Sandilands nearly caught him.
Best thing anyone from Freo did all night.

And Joey was absolutely stuffed.
He was down crouching for quite a while getting his breath back.

Top effort from Sandilands.

On analysis -

when Gram chips from about D52 to Joey, Sandilands is about 25 metres from Joey who marks at about D70 outer wing, just defensive side of centre.

By the time Joey gets it and half turns to run on, Sandilands is about 15 off.

After another 4 seconds Sandilands is about 3 metres off his heels which is where Joey holds him til he lays it off at about F52, and pretty happy not to be killed by the rampaging giant.

5 bounces by Joey, including a glance over the shouder between bounce 3 and 4 when he realised the big fella's still on him.

That should be a highlight to big lumbering blokes worldwide not to give up on those little mossie's that buzz around like they own the wings...
