Barks was a better mark, better spoiler and better defender than Spud.
I will be generous to Spud and suggest that Barks best marks were never captured on TV as St Kilda was so low on the ladder that the TV stations were not intersted in recording the games..

The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

I was fortunate enough to be very near Barks when he took that one..mordi wrote:...........both the 1977 Lake Oval ?
As teenager I went by myself to football for the very first time at that game (as opposed to Dad taking me)...and seeing that special speccie up close was my reward.
But with Barks he seemed to take a great hanger every week...often several timesa game.

I saw that segment. I was waiting for Barks to get a guernsey. Pity there wasn't the coverage or camera angles then as there is today. If there had of been he would have been known as the game's greatest aerialist.
At least they did have the sense not to include Ablett's or Silvagni's.
I also thought Roo's mark up in Sydney (running back) might have squeezed in.

That's interesting. I had you pegged as much younger than that.saintsRrising wrote:I was fortunate enough to be very near Barks when he took that one..mordi wrote:...........both the 1977 Lake Oval ?
