I seriously hope we are not thinking of getting rid of pick 16 or Lynch because at present we are starting to get thin at the younger end of the scale.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

I would say there is less than 1% chance we would get rid of Lynch, He has not been mentioned from anyone or anything i have so far heard.

And i would think there is about a 50% chance the first rounder will be traded, depending on what happens with Lovett, Fev, Burgoyne.

I agree about lynch. I would be shocked to see any of our young players traded. As for our first rounder i wouldn't be surprised to see it traded considering the quality of players on offer during the coming week.

St Kilda has all-but brokered a deal with Fremantle for quick midfielder Brett Peake, 26, who requested a trade after five years with the Dockers.

Wat a shame... he better be coming damn cheap!

Hope i'm proven wrong, but i really think we couldve found someone much better... Officially the least exciting Saints trade in the past 5 seasons...

Im pretty sure Ray copped a bad rap here. So give him a chance.

He was very good for them in 06. So hopefully he'll do better in a very good team.

Quick fix for our lack of pace?

No, they arent... averages only 20% contested possies a game, and only about 70% disposal efficiency... and is turning 27...

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until i'm proven wrong (like Ray), but currently he is the Freo whipping boy, famous for falling over and turning it over... :?

Brett Peake 186cm midfielder, turns 27 in July next year.
Taken with a father-son pick in 2003 national draft.
Has received 12 brownlow votes, kicked 42 goals in 75 games.

Would love to see

Ball and Maguire to Essendon for Lovett and FIrst rounder

We then Send 2 first round picks to Port for Burgoyne

So we get Lovett and Burgoyne

We lose our first pick, Ball and Maguire

Peake would be a good pick up if cheap. He played well against us this year at Etihad. Could be a similar type to Heath Black without the attitude. We need guys who kick goals from 50 and I think he can. Gram has redefined his role so we really need to replace his goal kicking. Maybe Joey needs to kick more goals too.

I would absolutely hate to see.
But business is business.
Ball and Maguire both have St Kilda contracts on their tables, if they sign those contracts immediately they would remain at St Kilda.

Ball has either been playing brinkmanship or sniffing every passing dog.
He has had a 3 year offer sitting around for months.

Maguire has a one year contract offer on his table.

I can't see Essendon doing this deal - their first priority is to get Burgoyne for themselves.

Would you give away Brendon Goddard for 2 draft picks in a weak draft?

Would you take two injury-riddled mid-20's guys for Lovett and a draft pick if you're still rebuilding?

Kidding me. Too much of these naive ideas of getting something for nothing.

I reckon we have plenty of younger guys and would have no issues with us trading our first pick, if they deemed the trade worthwhile. They have a much better idea than probably any of us as to what we'd be likely to be able to get with pick 16. As for Lynch, (it's been mentioned that Carlton want Lynch and our first pick, for Fev) I'd only consider trading him if we were certain of getting Tommy Walsh from Ireland, who probably would play a similar role.
If we were sure he was coming, I'd consider it.

You're right we do have some young kids but not first round quality perhaps only Big Ben and Armo. I just think yes we are still in line for a crack at the flag over the next couple of years but I hope we don't bottom out after that.

Whilst it is the opposite of a confirmed trade, didnt know where else to put it...

This is a quote from Essendon coach Matthew Knights:

"I haven't spoken to Luke direct. There's been a fair bit of talk about Luke around and about within the industry, but haven't spoken to Luke eye-to-eye. The enquiry hasn't been at that level yet," he said.

"I haven't spoken to Maguire, but I would have thought that would be very unlikely in that situation.

"We're really keen to stay the course with our young defenders in (Cale) Hooker, (Tayte) Pears, (Michael) Hurley and (Darcy) Daniher getting opportunities at AFL level.

"I think it's important we do that."

So that all but rules them out of chasing Goose...

As I said in another post;

Both Bally & Goose are managed by Paul Connors. I am of the belief that Paul Connors is all about raising the profile of Paul Connors. The best interests of his players comes a very distant 2nd.

It's been reported that Bally has been offered a 3 year deal & Goose has been offered a 1 year deal. Let's wait & see !!

I'm not sure what a player manager gets but I'd guess it would be around the 10%-15% mark. So if Bally and Goose are collectively taking a $300,000-$400,000 hair-cut on their new St Kilda contracts, I've got no doubt Conners will be doing his best to secure more lucrative deals elsewhere.
