Completed goal spread for the entire season

Post: # 925524Post SainterK »

Round 1 = 10 goalkickers
Round 2 = 9 goalkickers
Round 3 = 8 goalkickers
Round 4 = 6 goalkickers
Round 5 = 4 goalkickers
Round 6 = 5 goalkickers
Round 7 = 7 goalkickers
Round 8 = 7 goalkickers

Goal contributions from guys not playing forward

Round 1 - Peake, Geary, Gram, BJ, Dal
Round 2 - Joey, Dal, Armo, Geary, Peake
Round 3 - Gardi, Joey, Gwilt, Dal, Gram
Round 4 - Dal, Jones
Round 5 - Fisher
Round 6 - Steven, Armo
Round 7 - Steven, Montagna, Gram
Round 8 - Hayes, Dal, Gardiner

Think this has a bit to do with this quote by Ross

"some players with skills who make some errors second-guessing themselves when you should be able to go inside and kick it.â€

Here is a post I made in another similar thread:

"Compare that to Collingwood who have had 13 individual goal kickers in each of the last three games.

On the weekend we had 7, the week before that we had 7, and the week before that we had 5.

This, imo, is not a good enough spread.
We need to start seeing goals from atleast a large portion of the following players each game:
Kosi
Milne
Schnieder
McQualter
Goddard
Gram(When he plays)
Joey
Dal Santo
Lenny
Gardiner
Fisher(If played up forward)
Armo
Heyne(When he plays)
Steven (When he plays)
Stanley(If he plays)
Peake(When he plays)

Trending in the right direction, seems to make all the difference.

Round 1 = 10 goalkickers
Round 2 = 9 goalkickers
Round 3 = 8 goalkickers
Round 4 = 6 goalkickers
Round 5 = 4 goalkickers
Round 6 = 5 goalkickers
Round 7 = 7 goalkickers
Round 8 = 7 goalkickers
Round 9 = 9 goalkickers

Goal contributions from guys not playing forward

Round 1 - Peake, Geary, Gram, BJ, Dal
Round 2 - Joey, Dal, Armo, Geary, Peake
Round 3 - Gardi, Joey, Gwilt, Dal, Gram
Round 4 - Dal, Jones
Round 5 - Fisher
Round 6 - Steven, Armo
Round 7 - Steven, Montagna, Gram
Round 8 - Hayes, Dal, Gardiner
Round 9 - Gardiner, McEvoy, Hayes, Dal, Ray, BJ

Ross would be pleased, didn't see much second guessing today...

Probably sick of me harping about this, but it seems to be a big factor in our form line this year.

Round 5 = 4 goalkickers

Round 9 = 9 goalkickers
Round 10 = 10 goalkickers

not at all. a good spread of goal kickers is vital, especially when riewoldt comes back. keep it up.

Thanks SainterK, I enjoy looking at the goal spread each week. I agree, there is a correlation for sure.

Related thought after the weekend: our approach to filling in for Roo is and should be to take a page out of the Woosha coaching book.

The West Coast Eagles are the only team of the decade to win a premiership without a dominant forward line (haven't been in the top 10 for marks inside 50 from 2005 onward - don't know prior to that, typically a premier will be top 3). On the strength of pure midfield domination, both weight of I50s, and midfield goalkicking, they made it to 2 grand finals and won one.

Teams have been flooding our forward line from 2004 onward, and without Reiwoldt, we've been struggling.

The signs in the last 3 weeks with Nick Dal Santo, Lenny Hayes and Leigh Montagna (! with that 5 goal haul already beaten his '09 output, and 3 behind his career high of 12), Goddard (also matched his '09 output) taking responsibility are positive. They're also pretty much the only option.

Barring a big improvement from those in the forwardline itself (in comparison to '09, Milne slightly up, Schneider on same pace, Kosi well down, Mini down, and unsurprisingly, Roo's haphazard substitutes have not replaced his output), we need to get the goals elsewhere.

That's our midfield. for years the Saints midfield has been criticised for not kicking enough goals. The time to rectify that is now.

What's a little annoying about this week, is we would of had 13 individual goal kickers if not for inaccuracy. 12 goals scored, yet 13 behinds.

Round 3 = 8 goalkickers
Round 4 = 6 goalkickers
Round 5 = 4 goalkickers
Round 6 = 5 goalkickers
Round 7 = 7 goalkickers
Round 8 = 7 goalkickers
Round 9 = 9 goalkickers
Round 10 = 10 goalkickers
Round 11 = 7 goalkickers
Round 12 = 7 goalkickers

Goal contributions from guys not playing forward

Round 1 - Peake, Geary, Gram, BJ, Dal
Round 2 - Joey, Dal, Armo, Geary, Peake

Excellent effort today. 13 goalkickers is our best this season. Probably best of last season too.

Almost a perfect game today. To have the one lowlight being we failed to win by a hundred points indicates an excellent effort.

13 goal kickers for our 13th win :)

I kept yelling for anyone within range to have a shot- rather than pass of to Ro etc- when that farin front a good shot at goal and success can only lead to confidence.

so good work Rob and CJ

If Gardiner, Dempster, Peake had kicked straight....we would of had 16 :)
