Roo
Just a thought ... what about playing, (trying), Roo at CHB.
I know it takes heaps away from our forward line, but he covers so much ground, he can run & carry through the middle, he can set up players up the ground or coming down the ground, he hits more targets than he kicks goals lately & he won't have 2 or 3 opponents on him.
I get so frustrated when he misses easy goals when they need to be kicked.
I know that we then need a completely new forward set up as well.

I actually thought he might be good as a winger like richo was used last year.
Give him runs in the midfield like Couta even. This would make good use of his mobility, take the pressure off him kicking bags, stop the team kicking it to him when ever the options look slim and make others more accountable for scoring.
He actually works well up the ground but he is our only real forward target especially if Kosi rucks a little more next year. We need less predictability.

The very best CHF in the league... possibly the best since Wayne Carey.
And we want to move him from there?
Opposition clubs would be licking their lips.
What Riewoldt needs is one extra midfielder with speed and clean disposal as well as forward line support in the form of a genuine Full Forward and mid sized goal kicking option.
Playing alongside forwards like Mcqualter and Eddy would hurt any forward.

He would be an ordinary midfielder. A bit too lumbering.spert wrote:Our best forward at the moment, though has yet to prove himself in the biggest game of all. He is definately not a backman! I would almost give him a crack as a tall ruck rover type of player purely due to his ability to run all day, and plonk Stanley at CHF.
And whilst Riewoldt runs extaordinary distances for a key position player, when compared to Swan, Ablett, (Harvey), his distances are about normal for a midfielder.
If we get Fev (I know most of you hate this idea, to be honest I'm not sure if I even like it) then we could get a good mix of Roo playing CHF for 50% and Wing for 50% of the game, this way Fev can have space as well as Roo having the chance to kick goal.
Plus they would take a lot of pressure of each otherrrrrr inside 50.

Wouldn't happen for so many reasons.#1GILL wrote:If we get Fev (I know most of you hate this idea, to be honest I'm not sure if I even like it) then we could get a good mix of Roo playing CHF for 50% and Wing for 50% of the game, this way Fev can have space as well as Roo having the chance to kick goal.

Couldn't do any worse than the lumbering onballers we have at the moment, probably better acceleration off the mark.FQF wrote:He would be an ordinary midfielder. Adam Goodes is the best clearance player in the comp when he's in the center!gringo wrote:Pav and couta both have had runs on the ball to good effect, it mismatches the rest of the recievers, and the hight and strength are hard to counter also. Adam Goodes is another who has had roving duties.
Pav would be top 5.
IMO of course, but the big bodies can get it done. Mundy from Freo is a big unit, just as big as Pav and he is a great clearance player.
Goodes - 194 cm#1GILL wrote:Adam Goodes is the best clearance player in the comp when he's in the center!gringo wrote:Pav and couta both have had runs on the ball to good effect, it mismatches the rest of the recievers, and the hight and strength are hard to counter also. Pavlich - 192 cm
Kouta - 191 cm
Mundy - 191 cm
Goddard - 191 cm
Watson - 190 cm
Judd - 189 cm
Riewoldt - 193 cm
Now, Goddard Mundy and Kouta are considered big midfielders and they are 2 cm shorter than Roo. I just can't see Riewoldt being used to great effect.
Pavlich is very good in the midfield, but I dare say he is a lot better below his knees than Roo.
And Goodes... well he is just a freak. Say what you want about him, but he is a brilliant player.
Perhaps not as a clearance player, but on the wing he could be very handy.FQF wrote:Goodes - 194 cm#1GILL wrote:Adam Goodes is the best clearance player in the comp when he's in the center!gringo wrote:Pav and couta both have had runs on the ball to good effect, it mismatches the rest of the recievers, and the hight and strength are hard to counter also. We would need to obtain a great FF for this to happen though, so I doubt it.

Re: Roo
Has anyone given the thought of putting Kosi in the back pocket? he could rest there and he would not get in Fev's way. they used to do this with the rucks up until the late 80's.

Haha, your work is quite funny.SaintPav wrote:Has anyone given the thought of putting Kosi in the back pocket? he could rest there and he would not get in Fev's way. they used to do this with the rucks up until the late 80's.
I actually wouldn't mind Fev.
