Question: re Farren Ray's point and free kick...

Post: # 1056425Post St Fid Jnr »

Hi...

Should the point the Ray scored be counted, considering he kicked the ball then was hit???

I noticed that a point was allowed in the Hawks match and the player was given the opportunity to kick again.

Why did it not happen in Ray's case??

Sorry if this has been mentioned before

hello Fid Jnr

and I too wonder about that- didn't realise it was paid that way in todays game- can you remember why the player today got his free kick?

have never seen a rule about it..

I saw this again today in the bombers swans match. I think it was the bombers first score. They were actually pushed just before the kick. The point counted then got another shot that goaled, 7 point play!

Shouldn't the point not count and they have another shot for goal?
But if they are pushed after the kick the free is taken down field ie the goalsquare, or they can choose to take the score they got??

hi miss bratty :D

No I can't remember the hawks player, but he just got pushed in the back and his point was allowed and had another kick.

Surely that should have happened to Ray :!:

They were two different players. A hawk (can't remember who) kicked the point the Grimes push Rioli in the back and he kicked the goal making it a 7pt play.

The incident occurred after Ray had kicked the ball but before the umpire had issued the "all clear".

The bump was laid a split second after the kick got away. If it was in general play it would (should) be paid down field...

In this case, I think the right decision was made...I don't know about the other two because I didn't see them.

I was more annoyed about the terrible "deliberate" decisions by the umpires on Friday night...The two against us and the one against Richmond...All cost goals and all incorrect!
