When was the last time we played that bad?

Post: # 1074747Post plugger66 »

Serious answers. They were 2 men down, one being their only ruckman. They were 5 goals down. They had 110 more kicks and 80 more marks and they one by 30 points. That is our worst performance for years IMO. We obviously cant come back from that so we are in for a long road of being down the bottom. We must try to stick with the side bu expect 5, at least, of pain.

3 of pain, then a couple of anticipation/excitement, followed by hopefully a good run at glory.

Worst performance of Ross Lyon's tenure.

At least this week I don't expect any "we're just about to turn the corner" platitudes from players in front of the media.

Today screamed out "rebuild".

I haven't been that insanely and irrationally angry in front of a footy game for as long as I can remember.

I don't expect anything but effort and balls.

Neither.

Spade a spade: Goddard is in our bottom three at the moment. Sandringham. Dramatic, yes. But f*** it. Don't want to play because you're too sad, get someone in who'll have a dip until you figure out selection's a privilege and not a right.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

80's.

But that was because they lacked talent. To see so man St Kilda players giving so very little = rare.

To see a team just completely give up the ghost that way is sad.

Add to that token efforts at playing = so may easy marks dropped.

I would say two occasions

the game against Hawthorn a few years back that was a flood fest, and had both coaches pinning the blame for it on each other
AND
the game that made Max cry against the Bulldogs way back :?

Pretty disappointing.

Flew down from Sydney for this one. First game I have been too since the GFs last year. I hate leaving the mcg disappointed.

Different type of disappointed this time though. I wasn't angry..just sad. We were never really in it today - even when we were way in front you had that feeling it wouldn't last. As soon as the hawks kicked one goal the game turned.

I'll keep flying down to see the boys but it's upsetting flying home after a loss like that.

It was just so disappointing. Hawthorn lifted their intensity quite dramatically from the first few minutes of the second quarter. Everyone at the ground could see it.

Did we lift? Did we crunch every contest? Did we man up? Did we play for the jumper? We wimped along.

It's a long road back. This year is gone and the selectors need to start the hard decisions NOW. :!:

Poor examples IMO. The hawks game we re decimated by injury to an extent rarely seen. We had just one fit player on our list who was not playing in that game..Adam Houlihan. We obviously were in dage control from the start for a reason

The Bulldogs game we played good footy for 3 quarters, especially in the 3rd quarter, then got run over by a much more experienced Dogs outfit

The game changes so quickly its hard to compare from year to year, but I reckon its a very long time since we, or any other side, has lost the centre clearances 18-3 like we did today

We played well in those games compared to the last 3 quarters today.

I saw them all and saw pretty much the same effort, intensity and skill.
I do admit today though, a few more draughts had entered the body today, maybe it was worse.

I don't blame the players at all though, I can't be bothered either.

Nah... any game from 2000 or 2001.

Then any game from 1981-1986.
