How/Who to tackle "Daisy"

Post: # 1083164Post Junction Oval »

There are plenty of good Magpie players and you can't cover them all - man-on-man??

How/Who should cover Daisy Thomas this week. Ross named him as perhaps the best AFL footballer going around at the moment (not a bad complement).

Any really good ideas. :?: :?:

Unforunately, we do not have anyone on our list who is both experienced, fast and agile enough to be a suitable match for daisy.

Winmar seems similar in the last two categories, but obviously lacks experience.

I think Gilbert might get a run on him, with an emphasis on making him accountable the other way.

Kosi will be back this week and the best way to put Dale off his game is to line him up from 40 meters away and put him into the turf. Kosi is the one.

Noted. Wind up bum. Funny.

Block the scoreboard so he can't look at himself should do it.

He'd probably get Didak if he was right to play, but I'd be surprised if he plays.

yep, has pace to go with him.

TBH Pendlebury worries me more - stop him and stop a lot of their drive.

Stop Pendlebury and you achieve something that no teams have managed so far this year.

We stopped Judd - probably a harder feat on current form.

It's great timing that Dal had such a strong game last week, because he will demand more attention from there, even if he doesn't really deserve it.
Joey and Goddard (if playing) will cause them headaches. It will be mostly head to head match ups, and then it all boils down to our regular problem of clearances.

Lets hope Armo, Steven and Polo can stand up to the pressure.

Wasn't it Goddard who crunched Thomas with a hip and shoulder in the first GF last year ? A 2010 highlight.

Correct. If there's a flaw in Thomas' game at the moment, it's that he still struggles to come up after some really hard (but fair) treatment.

Funny how u are the first to defend Baker like most on here yet when it comes to roughing the opposition Baker is the first to mind.

Which way do u want it????

yup thats right
i seriously wanted him to come back in after a two game suspension only to ACTUALLY go out their and clout daisy behind the play and get another 16 weeks.

maybe baker and dempster are both tagging defenders and with dempster playing the better footy (much to my surprise) he has been getting the gig
dempster might not get up this week so baker being the next in line that plays the same kind of game should get the gig

pendles is s mid...jones is a taggin mid
pretty much the reason i thought that match up should occur

daisy will have him beat in the air tho i think

8-)

Why not?

He has leg speed, can follow him into the midfield and forward....loves a good run down tackle 8-)

could work huh
could keep up alright
gives him a job and really make him accountable

could be a good option

only thing that gets me with gilbs is his disposal of late
and it seems to be the close short handballs and kicks most of the time

i mean he never used to be like that.

anyhoo
gilbs to daisy, yeah..i could see that

Thomas, Swan and timewarp Pendlbury. Absolute superstars of our game. Covering one is not enough all 3 have to be soundly beaten. Teams can never do it, so one or two of these guys always run riot.

Massive challenge for our guys.

Collingwood supporter at work said you have to break Thomas' legs to stop him.
