Selwood out vs Saints?

Post: # 1089327Post Fidelis »

The press is unusually quiet.

But there must be a question mark about Selwood's availability after an alleged off the ball incident with a now injured Guerra.

I'll be watching tomorrow's MRP with interest.

I would say there is a 90% chance that Selwood will play next week, simply because he's Selwood.

If Selwood gets cleared, it's a joke. At least it will have Jeff Kennett screaming blue murder, which gives us a week's worth of entertainment

I think Johnson might also be in trouble for that little tummy punch. His record isnt that great but that being said both will likley get off.

Intentional Cunduct: YES

High Contact: YES

High Impact: YES

I'm buggered if I know how to calculate it but it should equate to 4 weeks. The only thing that will save him is the incompetence of Ch10 in not having any footage of the incident !!

Bakes would be looking down the barrel at 12-weeks for this one.

But, hey, it's Selwood. Special rules for special players. The darling of the umpires who is always being tackled high.

Wasn't reported on the day. There are reports that an "out of zone" umpire was about 20 metres away !!

Don't the afl have goal to goal cameras that are supposed to pick up these kind of incidents ?

I actually reckon this is the EXACT type of incident that the AFL are trying to stamp out. Blokes taken out miles off the ball. I reckon you will see an AFL investigation if there isn't enough evidence to cite him. Guerra has a bad injury out of it (perforated ear drum) I can't see how the AFL can just accept that this occurred w/o investigating it - whether it's Stephen Baker or Joel Selwood involved. I don't buy into the conspiracy theories. Let's wait and see.

exactly
If medical reports confirm he has a perforated ear drum, then the MRP will take action and selwood will have a holiday
no conspiracy theories here move on

The final-quarter incident was not captured by Channel 10 cameras but the match review panel today ruled Selwood should sit out three games even if he pleads guilty
