Great quote from Peter McKenna after Lockett's 9th.
That advantage rule is ridiculous.
They've got to do something about that rule.
20 years later we are still saying the same thing!
But what a great night it was.
I was there.
Brought back so many great memories.
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!
100 in 14 games. How good was he? That's why I idolised him. This was a great evening too. Shame he kicked the ton over there though; I've never seen anyone kick one in person.
dean greig had a good game that day - looked right at home at the top level in only his second game.
the only thing that makes me sad from this clip is what happened three weeks later on a sunny day at waverley. plugger missing one from the goal square, ablett knocking out grant and burke, saints still only going down by seven points.
Simply the greatest player I have ever seen!!
I was obsessed with him growing up.
He had everything, once in a 100 year player, 1987 to 1991 was his peak for me and yet in 88, 89 & 90 he had injuries and suspensions.
He would have kicked 200 if he could have played 20 odd games in that era!!
I loved how he made the opposition fear us, there will never be another like him!!
Apart from a key forward who cant kick nothing much has changed... commentators still bemoaning the play on rule and also remarking that the Saints look so much better when the go up the middle rather than fiddling around.
