Benny Mac the Key !!

Post: # 1133641Post Eastern »

If Benny Mac can come close to "halving" the contests with Mumford and neutralizing 1st use of the ball I think we will win this final. IMHO this is the most vital match up of the match !!

He has gone to Rooey in the past so it will effect them. Let's hope that he gets well soon and we beat whoever they put out there tomorrow night !!

I don't reckon the last game against the Swans was a good indication of anything- sick players, team unbalanced and we only went down by a few goals. I expect it will be a faster, harder Saints team tomorrow night and Macca will do OK

Love the improvement Ben has shown this year but as a tap ruckman he is dreadful.
With Sydney relying so much on winning stoppages we can't allow Mumford to give his midfielders first use of the ball.
Gardiner must play.

Playing 2 ruckmen at the cost of a running player and fewer rotations might be the way to go for this match only.

Go Saints.

Mumford and Goodes are their match winners. Get on top of both and we should win !

If Macca was crook last time, as we have been told, let's hope that he is in rib-tickling health tomorrow night! Last week with Gardi providing some respite, was a good move. That Gardi has not been selected, indicates the Macca is OK.

Grundy has been a vital cog in their back 6 for a couple of years. Him missing WILL effect them !!

This time Ben will have back up in the form of Kosi, who missed the last match with gastro. We may see more of him in the ruck than usual, particularly if Mumford starts well.

IMO if we'd wanted to play Gardi, either Kosi or Ben would have had to make way.

Three tall lumbering types is one too many I reckon. But I've been wrong before.

I meant J Blake and Kosi, just to keep McEvoy fresh

While I think the Fisher-Goodes and Mummy-Mac matchups are important, I reckon Zac has a huge matchup on Reid. The kid is a gun and it is usually a low scoring matchup between two teams, if Reid gets hold of Zac we could be in trouble.

I think actually Kosi is the key and probably in better form than Ben but truth be known we need the both of them up and about.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Zac had a game in which he got a towelling from a nobody, it happens to every full back occasionally. Yes even Max. He has been very good most of this year and should go ok if we win the stoppages, if we are bombarded we will struggle.
