If we were playing a grand final tomorrow and Blake, Stanley and Kosi were all fit and in form would The big mac get a game.?
He is a warrior has great hands but fairly slow.

Yes he would, Wilkes would miss.

I think McEvoy is one of our fastest over a long distance?

He was sorely missed in the Hawks game as the defence had no one to drop in front. Carlton don't have a Buddy Type forward so we were less exposed but he does help out across there with his marking.

he is often beaten at centre bounces, however around the ground he's great , great contested mark and handy kicking for goal

If we're gonna talk about the fella can we at least spell his name correctly in the title?

Fair enough mc is an abbreviation of mac so I don't think the big fella would be to upset

How do you know he would not be upset? Did you ask him?

Ok point taken . I couldn't see how he would have improved us against Carlton.

He would have improved us as he would have taken Wilkes spot.

Wilkes had a very "nothing" night. (not knocking him at all)

McEvoy would have rucked most of the night and switched with Stanley. This would have given us the chance to leave Kosi (who has been our best forward this year) in the forward line all night.

Stanley and McEvoy both would have spent more time in the forward line and both look more damaging up forward than Wilkes did on the night.

My opinion anyway.

I do.
May i ad two cents...i'm a Mc (Mac) myself and i couldn't care less if Mac is abbreviated or not! Short hand txt and nick names run a muck on these forums. It's understood.

Btw i think Rhys ads great speed to our midfield when he's rucking on ball. Something to consider against pacey sides.

He may well be a Mac, but he's not a MacEvoy.

Whilst I agree it's no biggie, if we're going to get upset when someone spells the skipper's name wrong, or puts an "s" on the end of the boy from Lorne, we should at least get the big fella's name right.

Is it something to do with "Mc" being Scottish and "Mac" being Irish?

If McEvoy had played, and Stanley had played forward, who on earth would Carlton have matched-up on Stanley with? Jeff Garlett? Stanley would have kicked 6!

We are a much better side with McEvoy in ...

Got this off the net for those interested .

Mc is simply a contraction of Mac. There are all sorts of theories out there about the difference between Mac and Mc, the most common being that Mac is used by Protestant and Mc by Catholics (and also that Mac is Scottish, Mc is Irish), but while that may be true in some cases (more on a possible example below), in most cases Mc is nothing more than a contraction of Mac.

Mac, Gaelic for “son”, is the most common element of Scottish and Irish surnames. In both countries, Mc is always an abbreviation of Mac. There is absolutely no truth to the American myth at Mac is Scottish and Mc is Irish. Mac used to be abbreviated M’ although this spelling is not common now. At times, all three versions can be seen. in an early book on Highland music, the author spelled his own family name three different ways on the first two pages — “MacDonald”, “McDonald”, and “M’Donald.”tar

Wilkes did his job which was to force a contest and force the ball to the ground.

It will be good to get Meca back though. :P

Is this fair dinkum? If bad spelling upsets you, go to a forum where all the uneducated are actually banned for bad spelling. Otherwise get over it you snobs.

Hope my spelling was ok.

I haven't heard one commentator pronounce it mc as in mc Kay , haven you heard sprucey say oh it's big boy mac evoy not big boy mc evoy. So from now on its pronounced mook evoy I suppose.
