Umpiring in Perth

The three field umpires in the WC-St Kilda game on Sunday - messrs Donlon, Dalgleish and Mollison - kept up the astonishing 2:1 free-kick ratio enjoyed by the home side at Paterson's Stadium this season. After the Eagles' four home games, they have been awarded a total of 119 frees, to their opponents' 66. The tally went 25-16 in their favour against St Kilda (and followed totals of 32-12 vs Melbourne, 33-23 vs Hawthorn and 29-15 vs North Melbourne). We know West Coast is a fine team but, sorry, those figures don't stack up. The crowd free kick is clearly alive and well, and we implore the umps to finally show some gonads: call the frees as you see them, not because 90% of the home-crowd ferals (be they from West Coast, Collingwood or Adelaide) are yelling 'ball'.

Could not believe some of the taken high decisions - and the inconsistency with which they were paid. I was getting pretty angry with it tbh.
I think some of those umps need a spell in the country if they really were influenced by the crowd.

yeah was pretty frustrating... Coxy caught on early in the game that he could play the umpires all day long ... fair play to him but gees it was frustrating seeing him seeking contact with our players and then making it seem over the top. Goddard getting hit from behind 40 out from goal in a marking contest at the end of the third... over the shoulder.. in the back whatever you wanted to call it was the worst for me... especially given the exact same free was paid against us literally 20 seconds later close to the same part of the ground so I'm assuming it was still the same umpire in control... really drained me that one. Would have brought the margin under 10 points I think if BJ had a free kick and goaled there.

What would you call the new eagles move anyway? The pick up ball, turn and slide.... so your head becomes chest height very quickly. Anyway shouldn't have let the eagles stomp all over us in the first half...
