Sam Gilbert

Post: # 1224826Post elvis lives »

Im not sure when he last played a good game, maybe the first gf 2010 , but he is an absolute liability at the moment. Can't kick, can't mark, can't defend.

Take Gilbert, newnes & cripps out of this side and bring in Schneider, Raph & ledger and we would be a five to seven goal better side

Cripps and Newnes have to be given time, Cripps hasn't done a bad job, Newnes has fired off a couple of danger balls but I'd rather both of them were indulged than carry 2nd tier players whose potential is minimal.

Gilbert and Gram are the only ones from this team tonight that I'd omit so far.

Is hesitating and hence getting nailed. Still value his marking power, just need quicker decisions when the ball hits the deck.

Newnes? Really? I'm all for giving kids who deserve a game a go but the kid is hardly worth keeping a premiership player out. Or Raph if you need a defender. Not only has he coughed it up every te he's touched it, I am suspicious he is on nahas

Marking power? You have to be kidding me. Has he taken a mark tonight? Has he taken a mark since 2010?

Yep. Those three should have played, if they are fit. Alas, whatever our coach is good at, it's not picking the best team available. On my count, Sam Gilbert was directly responsible for 7 goals to Richmond, which must be some sort of record. Jamie Cripps' only talent seems to be running twenty metres behind his opponent. And Jack Newnes' only thought when he got the ball was to handball it to any Saints player regardless of the circumstances, but at least he got the ball.

Although Gilbert got caught a few times, would Raph Clarke been any different?

To his credit, at least he runs and takes on the game, he set up a few shots on goal.

We were just missing key players, Stanley, Big Mac, Fisher, and Geary. Also think Schneider needs to be our 6th forward target.

Disappointed in Grams game (cannot play just 1 quarter of football), and Montanga (been far too quiet and that kick was the knife in the back).

Gwilt isn't just ready yet tbh, but we're forced to play him atm because we don't have that tall.

Have to win the next game

Not entirely in touch, but easily his best game this year.

Reckon he'd feature heavily in the score involvements.

Also rucked, which was interesting.

we have to keep newnes in the side. its the only way he can develop. his 1st half wasnt the greatest but i thought he stood up in the 3rd and 4th.

Sam is struggling no doubt but at the moment there arent any options. Is lacking confidence and just proves possessions mean nothing.

Blake had 3 more clangers than Gilbert from 8 fewer possessions yet you saw fit to give him three votes?

As I said proves possesions means nothing. And its only my opinion. I always stick up for Sam but he made some huge errors tonight that cost us bigtime.

Did he not set up a fair bit of play by dishing it off by hand to better users having won the ball himself?

The stats would suggest otherwise, but why would we let facts get in the way?
