Big deep breaths
Looks like nothing more will happen.
So we go into the draft with 13/24/34.
If we get 2 good young players from those 3 picks I will be a very Happy Chappy.
We can then maybe use 43 on Kyle Hartigan and then just promote Curren + Ferg + Dunnel.
Then we go into next season where were left season - thin on ruck stocks and one tall defender down (unless Hartigan or someone similar can step up).
I would not play Kosi at all and keep him in cotton wool until games where Macca or Rhys are injured. The reality is Kosis body is only capable of 4 good games a year - so we might as well use them when we really need him - think of it as saving your joker for when u need it in cards.
Id use Lee and Wilkes and Roo as tall fwds. Rhys as fwd/ruckman/bench. Then keep Kosi for emergencies only. No point him coming out and doing his normal few good games in the first 6 matches when it means come mid season - when we need him - we have 2 or 3 big guys on the sidelines. Some fwd planning is required when we are deficient in an area.

Dude, there's over a week and a half of trading still to go. I'd say a lot will happen towards the end.

Re: Big deep breaths
Just tune in from midday to 2pm on October 26. Nothing will happen between now and then.
This whole period has been very poorly planned and coordinated by the AFL. They really have cocked it up this time.

Re: Big deep breaths
There will be a mad scramble last days like always...
Not sure if you'd rate it a success thus far, Tom Lee is a good pickup I feel, but he'd need to be to justify the pricetag...fair?
I just think people need to chill out and not expect too much just because we have Pelchen, it may take him a few years to compile what he wants.
I'll be disappointed if we go into another season without finding a tap ruckman for depth and a fullback.

And it's not like all the other clubs are madly trading away while we just sit back and watch on. Seriously, how many trades have been completed (as opposed to discussed)?

3 weeks trade period is an effing joke. Nothing gets donw in 3 weeks. They only need 10 days.
And the part where we dont know our compo pick until the end is also a joke.
So clever pants all you like - but I Actually think it should be scrapped. Nothing is going to happen.

We know our compo pick one week before the trade finishes. Exactly the same amount of time that previous trade periods went for. Why will nothing happen? And if there isnt another trade by us i gather that means you think there wont be another trade at any club because I dont see why we would be different to the other clubs.

err - yes. of course that is a possibilty. the draft is a lottery. whats your point?
we should go and recruit franklin, ablett, cotchin etc...? that would be nice i know.
im just saying you cant wave a magic wand and do trades. it never happens ever. since this whole trade week thing began in 1467. So people can dream all they like about us pulling a big fish - or even a player for a need. but teams very rarely trade with another. it aint gonna happen.
so lets suck it up and try our luck at the casino that we call the draft. Im afraid its out only choice.

Re: Big deep breaths
The Eagles list manager said on trade radio that Mitch Brown is off the table. There's a thought that Cripps for Stevens is a likely trade but still up in the air. NM are very interested in Hickey Donald McDonald said today on a Roos online forum.dragit wrote:Who said that we are no chance to get any of Hickey, Stevens, Brown, Jacobs & Martin?

Con has shot his lot early....again.....
Nothing will happen until after Compo Friday...
This compo bulldust must have some affect on Free Agency..
Why would StKilda risk it's Greedard compo on bringing in a player via Free Agency

So you're calling trade week off because one player we are interested in looks unlikely?Con Gorozidis wrote:well the eagles said we are no chance of getting Brown for starters - not to mention something called contract law.dragit wrote:Who said that we are no chance to get any of Hickey, Stevens, Brown, Jacobs & Martin?

Crock of shite designed to keep the AFL in the papers in October. Straight from the marketing dept.
But whatever floats your boat.

Of course it is designed to keep the AFL in the papers. I reckon a week is enough but I actually dont see how it matters if it goes for a month. Certainly cant see how it effects supporters lives.

Re: Big deep breaths
The 3 weeks is not designed to please the supporters.
It's for the clubs, the players & the players managers. It's to give them time to get any deals done.
Sure it's as boring as hell for us but that's just tough.
FWIW, I also find the gap between seasons too long by about 5 months but there's not really much I can do about it.
