It will be a sad day. He is a heart and soul type and will be gut wrenching seeing him go.

Probably pressure from the AFL on the club a few weeks ago.
Possible negotiated outcome: play the last few this year and let HIM announce it rather than cut him loose now and risk legal action.

It's been wonderful watching Milney over the last decade and a bit. He's the best small forward of the modern era; a St Kilda champion. :D

Why? he is an integral part of our team and is leaving too early.

Yeah, it's going to be really tough next week watching part of our core 2004+ team take the field for the last time. :(

Too early... He's 33??

Having said that.... The best Small Fwd ever at StK and one of the best in the AFL... Not bad off the rookie list....

And he's meant a lot more than just his goals at StK

Gee it will be weird next year without tip rat, Blakey and Kosi. Sad day for the saints
I though Milney could have gone for 1 more season and with such a young list his experience would have been valuable

I love this club

No I don't

He kicked 4 today, in an 8 goal win.... I would suggest most games we win by 50 points, he would figure predominantly

He's lost pace.... And has had an average seasons... Not withstanding the allegations

If he didn't retire, he would have been delisted.

Great servant, good clubman... But time was up

Who will lead the song?

Better hand it over to someone.

That explains why every Saints player on the field went to him after his last goal. Really sad to see him go, but I suppose the last thing we need while we're rebuilding is an ageing, mercurial small forward. May as well stick a kid in that spot next year and see what happens.

Maybe Milne can make guest appearance in the rooms when we win.
Suspect won't be needed too many times next couple of years!

Jack(Steven) to be new song leader. Or maybe Tom Curren. Looks pretty self confident. Maybe the new Yapper.

Tremendous guy with a tremendous record.

274 games puts him 6th on our all time list.
572 goals puts him 4th on our all time list.

Amazing stats for a small forward.
Few players have given more pleasure to watch than Milney.

I hope they find some sort of role for him.
Would be tremendous doing past players functions, MCing functions etc. as he is heart and soul.
