New PR department required
It is reasonable to say that the PR department this year has done a poor job communicating and selling a message to the supporters. This whole thing with Dal - do we want him, do we want to trade him , etc etc by saying nothing it really looks like the club doesn't know what it is doing.
The club may be all over it behind the scenes and have deals on the table one way or the other , however all we have had is an email from Nettlefold which basically said nothing other than Dal was a great servant required player.
Why is the club not proactive or aggressive with the media and supporters. Come out and say lots being written but we do not play things out in the media so we will not making comment re Dal or any other players rumoured or otherwise. At least it makes a statement to the supporters of control and we know what we are doing.
The message at the moment is one of ? .. well there is no message which doesn't provide any confidence to supporters, sponsors etc.

And maybe the coaches should also email us the late changes and game plan for the following weeks game!older saint wrote:It is reasonable to say that the PR department this year has done a poor job communicating and selling a message to the supporters. Re: New PR department required
Why would the club engage the media, they treat the club like shite, The Saints should tell them nothing and let them write their crap, written crap as opposed to Finey's verbal crap.
It doesn't matter how they get it out there, it's still crap...

Saints looking like a bottom 4 team in 2024.

We need the media if we want to be successful off the field..bobmurray wrote:Why would the club engage the media, they treat the club like shite, The Saints should tell them nothing and let them write their crap, written crap as opposed to Finey's verbal crap.

Can see some merit in those comments
Re: New PR department required
You'd feel better if they made a statement saying basically nothing? Would the media even bother to print that? It's not exactly a story.older saint wrote:Why is the club not proactive or aggressive with the media and supporters. Can't you just assume that they're doing exactly what you said they should say they're doing?

Sometimes a statement saying nothing says more than saying nothing.bergholt wrote:You'd feel better if they made a statement saying basically nothing? Would the media even bother to print that? There is a guy on SEN I think his name is Howcroft? Who is employed by us and handles that stuff and is good for insights into the management of these issues. they pretty much run like political parties these days where they manage saying nothing or just enough and sway public opinion. Even bad publicity there is a real balancing act where you don't want to keep the focus on something but you want to acknowledge and move on.
The 24 hour media cycle and social media make it like skating blindfolded drunk trying to manage your public image. These days a player can get drunk and have it all over social media before he can get a cab home.

but it's interesting that no matter what the club do - even it's supporters don't beleive - they give us information but we'd prefer to beleive the social and broadcast journos who are NOT at teh coal face-
