Josh Battle is he invisible?

Ignored again for the Rising Star nomination. Has been consistent all year but hasn’t even been in the conversation. What gives?

Hopefully he'll get nominated in the next few weeks, agree he's been a strong and consistent contributor this year. Walsh from Carlton is a ball magnet and Port have a few decent rookies. Reckon Battle will be a 200 game player.

Hey Curly

If our own passionate supporters do not rate his game - ie only 12 votes (out of 330) in the Player of the round and only featuring in the top 5 - 3 times out of 12 games - why would anyone not associated with St Kilda see his worth.

He is fantastic - he is a great find - he does what he needs to do well - but he is not flashy - he is not a forward - he is not a midfielder!

Maybe he will get a nom - but I doubt he is in the running.

Clearly it’s an AFL conspiracy to keep the Saints down.

Also, what does it matter? If he does or doesn’t get a nom I’m sure it won’t effect the way he plays each week one iota.

No it doesn't effect his playing ability but what it does do is promote the club in a positive light. He deserves the nomination and for what ever reason he has been over looked.

I don't think that up backs rate well in most awards.

But yes should win this year's Rising Star if they are fair dinkum.

Battle averages 15 Disposals, 6 Marks, 5 Intercepts and 4 Rebound 50s.

Rozee averages 15 Disposals, 3 Marks - but also averages a Goal each week.

Walsh gets 24.7 Disposals each week, 5.6 Marks, 3 Inside 50s and 2 Rebound 50s.

Battle is pretty much playing a KP in a team with a decimated backline, whilst Rozee is playing an important forward role.

Walsh is running around unmanned every week.

Battle certainly deserves to be in the conversation.

Tends to happen when you look like you’ve already played 150 games.

IMO he is the highlight of our season so far. Consider the amount of times the ball enters our defensive area in a normal game(pretty often) & playing on blokes way bigger with way more experience he has done a wonderful job . For pick 38 or 39 a steal really & definitely a keeper

Danny Frawley is on the voting committee. Someone email him or give him a call if you have his number

I heard Spud on radio on Saturday morning and he nearly spilt the beans with how he felt about Walsh. Can't remember his exact words, but he said something to the effect that it seems Walsh is already over the line with the award

His form has dropped off a bit in recent weeks, is starting to look a bit tired given its his first full season. Hopefully he can get back to top form in the latter half of the year and pick up a nomination.
