How good was RoMos last Qtr against the Suns
Marshall is just getting better and better.
He really dominated around the ground in that last quarter and was a key reason why we ended up winning. He and Billings in that quarter were the cream we needed to win the game.
Witts is a hit out beast and Marshall's hit out numbers stacked up very well against him.
Marshall is developing at a rapid rate since he was thrown the reigns of the No1 Ruck role. One can only speculaye what his ceiling nay be but with rucks not hitting their peaks till their late 20' s it would seem that for 2020 on that Saint's fans may be in for rare treat for us of having a dominant ruckman who is very good also around the ground.
The club does has many of the pieces to be a good team. Just need 2 genuine elite mids to add to our list. Here's hoping that Bytel can be one of them.

I thought that play when he ran through the centre from half back and marked and drove the ball about 70 metres looked like some kind of turning point for him going forward.
You wouldn't have wanted to get in his way - and no one did !

And yeah 2 gun mids and a couple of ready to go mature age mids in the mould of Wilkie and Parker for depth.
We have a good list and are on the cusp.
Have the courage to call out r ACE ism

Are he and Battle eligible for Rising Star?
And if so why not nominated?

Under 21 on Jan1 and have played 10 or fewer games.
So Battle is eligible. Romo is not.

Re: How good was RoMos last Qtr against the Suns
Glad somebody picked up on this. I watched the last qtr again last night.
Marshall's work rate was outstanding. Hit-outs, marks, second efforts, a long bomb into the forward line (er,no). However, it was his fitness to produce that in the last quarter having rucked pretty well all day in 26 degree heat.
Exceptional and went a long way towards winning the match.

Re: How good was RoMos last Qtr against the Suns
I posted on Sat night that I thought Roma and Membrey were crucial to us getting over the line.

Guys like Marshall, Acres, Steele and Dunny give us plenty of grunt in the middle and then there's the blokes like JB, Gresh and Membrey with their finishing skills. Just need Kent and Parker to finish better and some of the younger mids to come on like Phillips, Clark, Langlands and Bytel and we will be playing finals

Yeah his fitness must be amazing as when most of players where feeling the heat he seemed to go to another level . Marshall & Battle are reasons to believe & if we can entice a gun outside mid or 2 we might dare I say it be a genuine contender for the 8 in years to come

Great last quarter. Some telling marks and that booming kick out of trouble. Very smart footballer and is only going to get better.
We need to look after him, though. He can’t do it all himself

Do they have to have played 10 or fewer games on the week that they're nominated? Or on Jan1?saintsRrising wrote: ↑Tue 18 Jun 2019 8:02pmUnder 21 on Jan1 and have played 10 or fewer games.

A player is nominated for the award each round during the AFL season by a panel of experts; to be eligible for nomination, the player must be aged 21 or under on 1 January that year, and have played ten or fewer AFL games as of the start of the season

Re: How good was RoMos last Qtr against the Suns
BATTLE needs to be nominated to have a chance of winning. Once you have been nominated you go into the pool of players who are voted on at the end of the season.
A player can only be nominated once per season; if a player is suspended during the season, he may be nominated, but will not be eligible to win the award.
At the completion of the regular season, each member of the voting panel independently awards five votes, four votes, three votes, two votes and one vote to the nominated players they regard as the best to fifth-best during the season; the player with the highest total of votes wins the medal

Romo? I haven't heard that one. Roma I thought.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Thu 20 Jun 2019 5:27am Romo needs to be nominated to have a chance of winning. Once you have been nominated you go into the pool of players who are voted on at the end of the season.

But I'm sure you meant Battle because Marshall is too old and has played too many games.

Thanks SR for the explanation.
Maybe we should have a sticky 'AFL rules' thread? (And then praps someone can explain ruck infringements to me!!)

Indeed as I have already indicated that Marshall is not eligible.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Thu 20 Jun 2019 10:18amRomo? I haven't heard that one. Happily. I watch ruck contests intently. What would you like to know?
