Dunstan locked in to 2021

Post: # 1817371Post SemperFidelis »

Seemed like he was almost out the door at the end of last season.

I’m happy he’s locked in. It always seems like he and Richo didn’t gel.

He’s got some upside we’ve never seen consistently.

Look I would’ve preferred 3 years but it’s a free agency window he wants to keep alive. Similar to I think what Gresh & The Method got done

He has been very impressive of late and has steeped up. He deserves the extension.

I'm from that camp. But ... I do also recognise that he's our hardest inside mid who cracks in the most and does a lot of good stuff inside.

My main concern is that playing Ross and Dunstan together (and even Armo - as the great Richo has in the past) is that's basically playing 3 of the same player. And yes, he's not quick; is horribly one-sided ... but does offer the hardness required. I just wish me had more and different midfield options.

Not everyone can be flashy and outside.

Does a guy also need to be locked in to have a trade value ? Not All contracted players will stay at their clubs

He certainly deserves this.

He has had an excellent year, probably his best.

That will come magnifisaint, as they say, a two year contract extension is a long time on Saintsational.

The above description may well come, on a number of players, will be interesting juggling Dunstan, Steele, Ross and Hannebery especially if we continue to develop Gresham, Clark and Billings through the middle.

The end of 2021 should see Bytel cherry ripe to take over if his surgery has been a success.

He has worked on his fitness and game and starting to get the rewards. Good on Luke. His deficiencies were real, and still has some weaker points to his game, but he has developed well from mid season.

It would be interesting to compare Luke Dunstan with Joel Selwood statistically. I'm thinking they're pretty close.

It's ironic that Selwood is considered a champion, possibly all-Australian captain, and yet Dunstan is really not even appreciated by his own fans.

In addition to the kicks, marks, hard ball gets and tackles there's also the blocking, shepherding and physical 1%'ers. Dunstan would be highly appreciated at a number of clubs.

Great news.

So end 2021, not end 2020.

Have I missed something? Am I correct in thinking parkey/ted is no longer ? I sincerely hope he didn’t take up my suggestion to, ‘go play in the traffic’, I was only jesting poor boy

Oh dear, if he is no longer, what will Joffa Burns have to do all day? No need for JB to research copious amounts of parkey/ted posts to uncover inconsistencies.

I'm not particularly a huge fan of Dunstan. I think he is not consistent and swapped out with 50 other afl players all in the average to occassionally good contributor range. I like him because he is our player. He has done good things and plenty of very average things. He has never played at a level that ANY ONE would consider him to be a champion.
But, he has time. Unfortunately, he will never be.
But I do hope he continues to contribute.

I dare you to list Joel Selwoods STATS on here beside Dunstans. LOL!!!!
Go on! Do it!

I think well done to Luke. He clearly puts in a lot of hard work and passion... was dropped a few times finally after his early career golden run where maybe he should have been dropped a little more with a fiery desire to play seniors. Good on him.
