You have to be joking

"2012 NAB Cup trial rule - ruckmen not permitted to make contact with each other before throw-ins and field bounces for cleaner contests."

What are they doing to our game?

My ideal senario would result in: 25. Todd Elton (Ruck/Fwd) 35. Andrew Boseley (Back) 37. Mitch Grigg (Mid/HB) 42. Kyal Horsley (Mid) 60. Waylen Manson (Fwd) 68. Jackson Paine (Fwd) 72. Blake Think we would go with Dowler on the rookie list. But then he can only get a game from a long term injury. ...

Isn't it amazing how players change their body shapes depending on the thinking at the time. Players used to bulk up because Leigh Mathews said he liked players with big bums so they could hold their ground, and now they are all thinning down so they can run from one end to the other. Must make it h...

Good point.
My 72 should have been 68 (I copied from a previous post).
Won't make much difference. I would still take Beau Dowler as a back-up key position player.

You appear to have some of the order a bit mixed up, but otherwise there are some good names there. Overpaying for any of Boseley, Frost or Merrett with first pick. Elton seems to keep getting linked to us, but I'd love someone to tell me WHY they want him?? Is it because some media experts have sa...

From Emma Quayle interview: “Who are the 5-10 most likely mature aged draftee hopefuls that will get drafted/rookied? Now this is the one thing clubs are good at keeping secret! There will be a few surprises. Would love to see Lee Spurr picked up from SA, I was a big fan 5 years ago when he played...

Agree we need talls but we shouldn't panic and take 'poor' talls in a 'poor' draft. If the 'shorts' are of a good quality take them and look to talls next year and engineer a couple of top 10 picks. This years talls will have no impact next year so we should hold on. Except for a back-up Ruckmam. No...

Draft Strategy

Interesting to reflect on a couple of comments by Emma Quayle:

“This isn't an ideal draft to be heavily invested in - it's a GWS-diluted poolâ€

I can't think of a better captain of StKFC than Nick Riewoldt. His application and leadership is first class. I think he inspires others through his effort and has the respect of all players. If you want to change things just because we have a new coach then lets change our colours to green and yell...

I think that Blake can adequately replace Dawson and I would like to see a backline position open up for a Cripps or Ledger.
The likes of Clarke, Gram, Geary just clog up the list.

If I remember correctly Lyon and Misson "planned" a slow pre-season development building up to a strong run home.
This obviously misfired and we were always on the back-foot and struggling to keep up.
Can't imagine we would make that mistake again.

Whilst I'm impressed with all the love for Saad, I'd like to see him do plenty in the pre-season competition before considering him for a spot in Round 1.
The gap between AFL and VFL shouldn't be underestimated.

Love the improvement Ben has shown this year but as a tap ruckman he is dreadful. With Sydney relying so much on winning stoppages we can't allow Mumford to give his midfielders first use of the ball. Gardiner must play. Playing 2 ruckmen at the cost of a running player and fewer rotations might be ...

Zac plays on the Geelong tall closest to goal.
Gwilt on the tall at CHF, then its all about zone and hopefully free up Fisher.

2nd ruck is a real headache - can't see RL going with Archer - Kossie or Stanley for mine.
