Daniel McKenzie and others under the radar

Watched the Bulldog game last night, the great come back, and what stood out apart from Billings' final quarter was McKenzie. His first quarter he was a bit pressured and coughed it up a couple of times but after that he had a blinder. His contested work on the wing in the 2nd and 4th quarters was f...

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread

Wtf is going on with all of this Hawthorn rubbish? Carlisle has personally rung Richo to reiterate he is as good as guaranteed to be a Saint. His manager has been with Bains a lot of the day, has confirmed he will get his client to the Saints. Watch the interview with Carlisles manager, he couldn't...

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread

Agree with previous posters, I like the idea of letting Carlisle fall to the national draft in the worst case scenario... my only concern is that im pretty sure i read somewhere that he doesnt want to do that and will push hard for Hawthorn if his hands are forced. Still Im not against keeping five ...

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread

The difference between 16 and 5 = 811 points = which would mean us getting Weller for pick 23. A clear win for us. On the other hand - if they really want McCarthy they just need a high pick. If they get McCarthy and Bennell they will be happy. One possible way to do this is if we do 5 + 24 to Freo...

Big year next year

I know that this is probably too early, and i genuinely dont mean it in bad taste, but i reckon there are a couple of midfielders that need a bit year next year to hold their spot on the list. Im happy with the decision not to delist this year, but I think these guys need to take a couple of forward...

Re: Seb ross height?

Just watching the game against Geelong, the draw. Now this could be the margarita talking, but wow he had a great game. Not only to hold Selwood, but look at all his hand passes in tight. there were two occasions in the second quarter where the other saints were hot handpassing but once it came to R...

Re: Aaron Young

I personally think Seedsman is the kind of player we need. I have no idea why we arent chasing him. I agree I really rate him, his run and carry of the half back line could be very useful. Look at the Dogs, they have 3-4 guys playing that role. We are a bit hamstrung here, Savage, Webster (supposed...

Re: Lonie and Dahlhaus

I had Templeton penciled in as our Dalhaus... I still hope, but this year didnt engender a lot of confidence. Where Templeton did improve for mine was his toughness, still a long way to go, but last year he was jumping into tackles, not hitting them, this year he hit a bit more and brought momentum...

Re: Lonie and Dahlhaus

What gives me heart about Templeton ( and sorry for hijacking the thread) is that he uses it well. Look at his first few games, his intelligence and usage were first class. Running into the forward line he almost always hit a target or kicked to advantage. He has the smarts which will only improve w...

Re: Trade Rumours

I'm missing something with Newnes I think? I see he gets a bit of ball these days, but does he impact games? Given how they vote for the B&F, I don't think his coaches think he does much either. He is the sort of guy who may bite us on the butt if we traded him, or he could be like Ben, where h...

Re: How's Newnesy Going?

I think he has improved a fair bit this year. Not a 'break out' year, but has looked good. He generally has A-grade disposal, and agility. And i think in the last few weeks, month his outside game has improved. He is an absolute competitor, so good one on one, and i think with continued progress on ...

Re: Observations today

It is a bit difficult to come up with any positives. I think Goddard will be better for the run, still get caught under the ball a bit too often, needs to learn when (not) to take that attacking position. Took a couple of intercept marks so clearly reads the game well, just a little tweaking. Ross i...

Yeah great read, I'm surprised (happily) at the input of Finnis, at a distance he appears the really diligent type. Could be one of the best signings in the last decade!

I hoping to be pleasantly surprised again. I thought 3 this year max. So this far out, I'd be happy with 6-7 again. Developing a winning culture cannot be underestimated.
