Re: Pick 47 - Matthew Parker

Very consistent statistics there. He should win a Brownlow within 3 years.

Re: Daniel Menzel

If the club is keen to get games into the young forwards then there isn't really a spot for someone like Menzel. Assuming they want McCartin, Battle, Membrey, Bruce and Marshall to be the forward option in a couple of years then it'd be a waste to give games to him.

Re: James Gwilt - who found him?

That Adelaide final was just brilliant. One of the best footy outings I've been on. Gwilt and Harvey tore them apart.

Smart picks like Gwilt are what enables clubs to move up the ladder without being overly reliant on high picks or big trades.

Re: F.... Melbourne

If the Dogs and Tiges have won premierships since we failed to, Melbourne might as well jump on the premiership horse and rub our noses in it as well.

It's not as if their rise has come out of any genius. They had several coaches and lots of high draft picks and have only just made finals now.

Some here seemed to have written him off. I must say I didn't like his chances of making it, but he has some very positive attributes, and I hope this makes him believe he belongs in the big time. Onwards and upwards!

That's quite a pattern. Pathetic. Particularly when they make decisions like that holding the ball against Sinclair about 15m out.

Who's our vice captain? Or are there 14 of them these days? I have no idea who will be captain next week if Geary doesn't play.

Re: VFL Player Review

It's interesting and disappointing that the likes of McKenzie, Goddard and Longer still aren't showing enough to be pushing for selection. If I was in charge I'd be pushing to get more games into White though. He often looks very useful. Even if Freeman is fit he might as well have more games for Sa...

Re: Bailey Rice

Along with White played an impressive game yesterday. Should come into the side this week. He has finally realised what professional means, it’s great to see. If only he had a father who used to play AFL footy to learn from.... ;) At this stage the club might as well give players like a him a go, a...

It'd be nice to see him in the team again. He'll probably come in for Wright, among other changes.

Group of drunks abused the Saints walking off in the race yesterday too. Newnes and Geary looked super pissed The amount of American gibberish on here is driving me crazy! In Australia Pissed-off means annoyed, pissed means drunk! AS for an earlier poster using "hating on"!!! If it...

Re: Who has done enough to keep their spot?

The player who has disappointed me most so far is Sinclair. I had high hopes for him, but he's looked lost so far. He'll come good, I'd expect him to get dropped for next week unless they're just trying to get more games into him. I'd be very surprised if Dunstan didn't come in for him or Stevens.

Re: So who are our elite players...

Greshem in our famous final game of the year against Richmond was incredible. That game was a coming of age one that showed us his true potential. He could become as good as Billings Give it a year or two and The Gresh should become the kind of player that other clubs always used to have, but St Ki...

Re: I want to be excited about the season.

I'm hopeful rather than expectant. To make the 8 we'll need a handful of players to really step up, and everyone else to do at least as well as last season. Melbourne and Essendon should be better this year than last, so there will be some tough competition.

I'm pretty sure last night's performances mean we we'll only win 4 games this season, the new buildings at Moorabbin will all collapse and Richo will get a flat tyre at least twice between now and September.

In my time it's Nathan Burke. If he'd played last century, Steven would have been a rover too, so he'd be second. Not sure who after that. Danny Craven? :)

He also pointedly made mention that it was impossible to be friends with all 42 players in a squad. That he had played footy with some guys for 10 years and didn't respect them for their lifestyle choices and didn't necessarily like them. Roo being Roo spent a lot of time talking about who he did l...

I'd been meaning to check out more King Parrot (no, seriously), so this is an opportune time. I'd seen that guy wearing the jumper somewhere else as well, perhaps in a magazine. BackFromUSA - he's your cousin? Nice! Is heavy metal a family thing as well? Hmmm grind bands to describe a mother-in-law....
