Incredibly sad news. Just had to break it to my 91 year old Grandma and she teared up. Wish I could've seen him play. A true legend of the game. RIP Doc.

Gosh, how incrediably sad. Our greatest player ever, gone........ RIP, condolences to the family. Like Jack Barker, never got to see us win that elusive Premiership.

I have been lucky enough to know Doc all of my life.

My childhood memories are full of Doc teaching me how to handball, evade defenders and control the ball in traffic.

We talked alot about the current group of players and Doc is adament that Roo will take his mantle as the best Saints player ever.

Doc was a very humble man who wanted desperately for another player to be a Saints Premiership captain. Unfortunately Doc never got to see this happen but he knew that our boys gave everything they had over the last two years.

As I said in the OP (when I had just received the dreaded phone call), we love you Doc and are so thankful for everything you did for our proud club.

[quote]St Kilda Chief Executive Michael Nettlefold said, “I’m sure I reflect every St Kilda fan and members’ thoughts in that they’re greatly saddened by the news of Darrel Baldock’s passing.

The Doc is clearly one of the great legends of our football Club and will never be forgotten. He will long be remembered for his pursuits on the field and his lifetime commitment to St Kilda Football Club. This is a very sad day for the greater St Kilda familyâ€

Yep, things could get much worse.

But I think we've now bottomed out and it's not yet Round 1.

RIP Doc - sounds like he had aboriginal-like evasive skills.

RIP Doc

If people like, I can compile these tributes and send them to the club to forward to his family?

Similar to the Max tribute book SS put together?

If people think it's a goer, maybe we could get the mods to sticky it?

I wish I'd seen him play, and I wish he'd seen his Saints win another premiership.
