I'd rather us top up some middle age players for when our bigger bodied players retire.

The key though is to be smart about it, draft one or two strong bodied role players and make sure you make the most of the picks you use on younger players.
Exactly, you always want a balance. And right now we have a huge amount of core players 28+ and then a huge amount of kids under 23 with not much in between.

20 and 22 is hardly middle aged.
Isnt he 25?

St Kilda officials were at East Fremantle Oval on Sunday when the Sharks gave West Perth a shellacking and they could not help but be impressed by the efforts of the lively Strijk.

Back in the midfield where he does his best work after the Eagles had tried to convert him into a small forward, Strijk had a career-high 25 kicks as he showcased his superb skills with ball in hand.
The West Australian Aug 22.

He might be worth a look. He's just turned 25 and with age is developing maturity. Pace and attack on the ball are obvious assets, and best of all he is a lovely kick.
Ive read other posters suggest we should stay away from other club 'retreads'. I think a number of younger players are just not ready to play AFL in their earlier years and take longer to mature in both body and mind. Dunell is a classic example and nobody has suggested he wont be a great contributor to the Saints.

We need these ready made type players to fill the void and if Strikj is now ready to take on the AFL then lets embrace it and give him a go!
Hey Winners, you make a lot of sense

The idea of drafting "kids" only is really very limited thinking.

Just look at Saad this year.

Not eveyrone is ready to go at 18 for all sorts of reasons.

Saad, Milera, and Dunnel were all useful pick-ups this year.

On the other hand Steven was a good example of going fora bottom age-player.

"Value" can be found in many ways. The best young kids is but one.
Ignoring older players who have not already made it is just limiting our prospects to improve unnecessarily.

Our Full Back for next year could well be a mature aged players who has not yet made it in the AFL.

Adam Cockie might be good for us! Loves to tackle and is a hard nut. And we have had a really close look at him this year.

Tom Lee kicked 6 goals or something in that battle of the codes cup thing a couple of months ago against Williamstown or someone.

Adam Cockie is Luke Ball mark ii. Many people at Subi rated him more highly than Priddis until a knee injury slowed him down. Would be the perfect foil for Lenny and Armo. Tom Lee killed williamstown the other week and is gonna go early in the draft. He is exactly what we need.
