Nothing announced yet, and the week has gone.
That suggests that the investigation isn't finished yeat and/or the recomendations from the investigators aren't finished.

We could take a CYNICAL view and suggest that the AFL will let Tippet nominate for the Draft and his penalty will be determined based on where he ends up. If it's GWS, he'll be slapped over the wrist with a wet tram ticket. If it's Sydney, he'll be de-registered for 12 weeks. The Adelaide Footy Club are staring down the barrell of some pretty hefty penalties, possibly up there with the Carlton penalties of some years ago.

The Melbourne issue is very different and I suspect the penalties will be much more severe than anything we have ever seen before. The "TANKING" issue has not only embarrassed the AFL, it has bruised the ego of AD, and that will see the penalty multiply.

If you were a gambler a safe bet would be that neither Cameron Schwabb or Chris Connolly will work in the AFL industry ever again after this !!

I think Patrick Keane mentioned last week that final draft order and number of picks for each team would be confirmed after the 2nd list lodgement date, which is the 15th.

I would expect that Melb and the Crows would either be in or out by this date. I think the Adelaide case is a lot more straight forward than the Dees though, so maybe one will be sorted and not the other???

That will never happen. There is no way that the AFL would knowingly punish Sydney by having its star recruit sit out half a season!

AFL must succeed at all costs in the rugby states.

Well, the AFL are set to give Adelaide (and Tippett, and a couple of administrators) a decent whack next Monday 19th. Some are predicting that they will be excluded from the next 4 Drafts (that could be 2 x National & 2 x Pre Season) as well as a very hefty fine. Tippett facing suspension or de-registration.

The Melbourne investigation won't be finished in time for this Commission meeting, meaning they get to keep Pick 4 and Viney. If found guilty, they too will cop a decent whack from the AFL !!

Melbourne will lose a pick next year for tanking. They'll respond by finishing in the top four so it doesn't have the same effect. They should lose Viney or Hogan now. In fact, they should lose Viney for colluding with GC and GWS to get Viney for pick 26. Ok, that doesn't make sense - but I still want to see them get smashed for deliberately losing games.

He is a serial F wit. hope he get deregistered too. He is threatening the AFL with the legal system. He is one of the most overrated egotists in the history of the sport and sent Adelaide down in his wake. Shat on his club , his team mates, the system and the law should be hit with a year off in my opinion. If he's too busy developing property to come back good riddance. He will infect Sydney like a virus if he gets there. We should raid a few of there good players if he goes there.

Then i hope he's deregistered and doesn't play AFL ever again..

I reckon the best punishment for Melbourne would be to make them keep all the spuds they picked with early draft picks... On 5 year deals.

Adelaide may still be some time yet... Van Berlo is now being investigated for 3rd party payments too!

I'm guessing that the close personal friendship between Steven Trigg & Andrew Dimitriou is no longer !!

Surely the AFL have had enough time to investigate the Tippett affair to make a decision on Adelaide's part in the 2012 draft on Monday. They can ban Adelaide from the 2012 draft, and still continue their investigation. In any case, Adelaide only has two live picks this year, so it is not going to be a huge penalty.

I think the Tippett investigation is finished and the hearing in front of the AFL Commission on Monday will determine what sanctions are imposed. The van Berlo case is completely new, meaning that the Crows could be looking at even further penalties in the not too distant future. It appears that Adelaide are already getting themselves ready to lose both of their live picks this year !!

Maybe getting it right is more important that making a quick decision. Anyway losing picks next year maybe better for us in next years draft.

But it gives the Crows a year to prepare for their smacking.

Surely as a part penalty they should've been banned from round 1 from this year's draft with further penalties imposed set at a later date.

The loss of access to the first 2 rounds of draft picks won't hurt the crows as much as it did Carlton anyway, they have a solid young team and really won't struggle by losing access. Carlton suffered more because they were at an end of an era and so denied the quick rebuild. Melbourne would only delist anyone they recruit in the first few rounds after a couple of years anyway so no loss.

I hope Tippett is deregistered for 12 months. Being dumb is not an acceptable excuse for cheating as his lawyer is pleading.
