Re: Rhys Stanley
Richo will be the making of Rhys. We saw a few snippets of what he can do on Saturday... he also made a few blues & got caught ball watching a few times as well. Richo's mantra of toughness & being highly competitive is the key for Rhys. If he can add those to his game I believe the skill er...

Re: Sponsorship - St Kilda at rock bottom
I'm with you Dave. It's a BIG BOLD & BRASH idea... something a little club with small thinking supporters would never do. Pretty similar in my book to the Filth leaving Vic Park. $100mil??? Pull that figure out of your ar5e? Cricket Vic needed $20mil State Govt money to re-develop. St Kilda &...

Re: DR. SCHOLL to be appointed to staff
My podiatrist worked for the Saints in the GT era (a fantastic source of info in those days too) & was responsible for getting the playing group out of wearing the old cheap rubber thongs & into masseur type sandals. This got a fair bit of publicity at the time & in hindsight, didn't rea...

Re: Matt Finnis for CEO?
Just received the member's email confirming Matt Finnis' appointment- a very impressive CV to say the least. Really happy to have a young CEO on board that can grow with the rejuvenated list that is being put together. I'm really excited about the management team that we have assembled. The key now ...

Re: Junction Oval on the brink of collapse
IMO St Kilda in St Kilda is akin to Collingwood leaving Vic Park & taking over Olympic Park. It made that club when they were on their knees. It would take a massive shift in thinking though... this is big picture stuff & we have never had anyone ballsy (or well connected) enough to make som...

Spot on write up Winners, agree with most of your views.
I do agree with BBMD though re: Roberton. He was fantastic last year & will hopefully continue to improve.
I loved Longer cameo too. A big aggressive ruckman that we haven't had since the legendary Lazar!

Re: The 5th Quarter
First of all... Con that is a disgrace. You will be held to account on that & deservedly so. Ridiculous. My two cents; If you don't appreciate anything else you must love the fighting spirit in the side. Whether the Dogs dropped off or not, sides with lesser attitudes would have been absolutely ...

Re: If you missed it, open training day tomorrow
Had a great morning down at Seaford, took my 6 year old daughter who has returned home with a new jumper full of autographs & some new favourites (She wants Jack Billings number but loved having a chat to Billy Longer & Tommy Curren was absolutely wonderful with her). Training wise it was a ...

Re: GWS might take Billings at 2
I've got the feeling that we'll take Scharenberg at pick 2. There'll be a supporter meltdown if that happens but I hope supporters realise that this kid will be a star. He's not just a half back, he can play anywhere & do it to an elite standard. Whether it's Billings or Scharenberg, we all shou...

Re: Emma Quayle Draft Summary
Grant Thomas certainly delegated that responsibility to his recruiting staff. He was a great Manager. Yep only one flaw in Thomas's management technique. He delegated to people who didn't know what the hell they were doing. Just look at the total failure of our drafting when we didn't have the No 1...

Re: St Kilda, a club in crisis. The Age
The Etihad deal I believe came about as the AFL forced us to leave VFL Park against our wishes, and was I believe a not negotiable deal. I’m a little fuzzy on this but my memory is that the clubs who were playing out of VFL Park were encouraged by the AFL to find alternative deals. I think that we ...

Re: Our Recruiting? - you be the judge
What would be more interesting would be a comparison of all the spending budgets of recruiting departments throughout the league. Of those 'lost years' you would most likely see St Kilda's recruiting department in the bottom 2 or 3. It's all good & well potting the likes of Bevo & Peake (&am...

If there isn't, then maybe a C+ is remotely close to fair. If there is, then they're deadset off their nut!

Re: Trade Period Success
Agree, quite well done despite what some might say. Would really have like to get the Bruce deal done today I disagree. IMO an *outstanding* trade period. Essentially.... McEvoy out for Longer in - both taken around the same place in their respective drafts, Longer 4 years younger and will come in ...
