Does anyone know why Simon Goodwin knock us back. For whatever reason I'm told he is off to the Bombers. Probably $$$$$'s Was he ever actually offered a position with us? Saints were keen for him to join the coaching panel. I believe he eventually advised Saints that he was going to accept another ...

Reloading for 2012 means creating some new opportunities. IMO its now time to create some development space and some of our currehnt players dont stand up under finals pressure. Peake is OK running in space but in the crush makes poor decisions and his delivery is just average. I still haven't seen ...

A bit late with this, but how about Alan Stretton, Major-General AO, OBE. He, like Col Williamson went to Brighton from St Kilda and under Col (the Coach) helped Brighton win its first flag. Played 31 games with St Kilda and kicked 10 goals. He lived in the district and started training with Melbou...

Re: Still mourning... anyone?
I don't know if it is just me, but I'm still devastated with last season. Yes, I know I need to move past it Yes, I know I need to harden the f#ck up Yes, I know its just a game Yes, I know we have 2010 to look forward to But I really thought we'd win it and like you all, I wanted it so badly. I ha...

I have been following the postings regarding ball, X and Maguire eagerly. My brain says that the stance taken by Lyon and the club was correct, fair and courageous. If we have taken pick whatever for Ball in fear of losing him for nothing, the cave in would have haunted a generation of Saints offic...

Roo's knee(s) must be well managed for the rest of his playing career. He has said publicly that from a training/playing point of view he and the Club will just have to manage the situation as best they can. He said in the interview I heard that the cleanup will help the problem, not fix it. I think...

Re: Trade week ramblings
A long week... i didn't think we did as well as we could have.. what we needed - more midfielders who can run and carry.. and more importantly better decision making and kicking skills... Ball, CJ, Eddy, Raph on the same team are our weakest links... we did ok here with Lovett and Peake despite pay...

I said on another thread that I am absolutely gutted by this result. We didn't take the full opportunities created by all our hard work. The Ross Lyon comment that I am struggling with post game is that the side (players on the ground today) must improve - OK - when you really look at today's side I...

I purposely didn't watch a lot of television last night to try and reduce my brain activity (not hard in normal circumstances) on today's game and get some sleep. It didn't work. I got a couple of hours Thu night and next to zero last night but I am ready to go. I am lucky eough to have a ticket and...

Funny how old habits don't go away. The Stand's gone but where our little area was next to the last walkthrough under the stand at the Nepean Hwy end I recognised about 6 faces from the 20 or so that used to stand here on home games. They could have stood just about anywhere around the ground today ...

From what I have read here Barry Breen has described the effect of Lindsay Fox's actions on the Club at the time as adverse. In the short to medium term this is understandable particularly if you missed money owed to you. From a long term perspective Fox's actions appear to have saved the Club from ...

Re: Breen on Fox...
Great listen last nite from Barry Breen. Was asked why the club's history was so. He mentioned that poor decisions were made along the way, and that due to financial reasons, we couldn't keep our good players. Interesting was his observation of the zoning system and how it robbed us of some superst...

Going back JUST a few years - the one that got up my nose was Val Perovic. I can remember one of his early games for the Saints against H'thorn at the Carlton ground. Playing as a mid field in those days Perovic lined up against John Hendrie who started giving the new player some attention. Perovic ...

If my memory is correct we did have a serious go at Gary Ablett snr. At the time he was srruggling to get some form as a mid field, half forward at Geelong and if the rumours were correct he was available and Saints were very interested in following up. This goes back a long time because I was told ...

David Sieracowski -West coasts own gutter crawler
Glad we got Gehrig but was sad to see him go. Had a lion's heart Seira and could have played some nice footy for us if he stayed
I never understood Tim Watson's reluctance (bordering on refusal) to give Siera a decent hitout as a key ...
