Not even slightly inside info. Players are delisted all the time. Nearly everyone who is, people say on here they like the look of them. I dont think he will make it. Happy to be proven wrong. By the way I dont think he has 24 months.

Seems like Lyon likes him based on the comments made in the box as per the Robbo article. Perhaps he might have more of an idea than either Plugger of BS.

Archer has as much chance of securing the 2nd key forward position as anyone - that's not bad for a rookie.

He is quick for his size ( 2.98 secs for 20 metres isn't bad ) and he's learning and improving.

He can provide good chase and pressure for a man his size - and we do need more forward pressure.

Keep improving young man. :)

I think he might but I also think he isnt going to post on here so unless he changes his mind and does post then we are allowed our opinions. Like I said I hope I am wrong but either way players will be delisted whether it is Archer or someone else. At the moment the forum has a crush on him just as last year I am sure it was someone else who probably didnt make an impact.

At the moment we lack a viable 2nd tall forward .. a full forward that can kick better than a goal a game and provide much needed forward chase and pressure.

Roo is best served at CHF where he can run opponents into the ground.

Archer is showing some promising signs and has the potential to fill that FF spot.
Even if he only manages a goal a game, that's as good as we've come to expect - but he may provide the much needed chase and pressure that we also require up forward - it's not just about goals.

It's the forward chase and pressure and a big mobile presence that can (potentially) open up some space for the smalls that is also exciting.

I like the early look of him also, but think the likes of him and Walsh are a fair way off. I don't think Archer's kicked a goal has he? maybe
Either way we'll see more tonight. He's defintely shreaded alot since last year and has gusto. If something happens to Stanley/Lynch/Kos perhaps...
Does anyone know how much time he spent in the ruck at Sandy? or was it predominately down back?

Wasnt that time done at the Draft camp?

He has put an incredible amount onto his frame since then.

I agree it's up to Archer to show what he has and he needs to prove himself.
We can't draw conclusions just yet.

A fair way off who .. Kosi as FF ? ..has Kosi really secured the FF spot ?
Does(Can) Kosi provide effective chase and the required forward pressure?

Anyway, I think Kosi may be needed in the ruck ?

If Archer can kick a goal a match (not a big ask)... his chase, mobility
physical presence - may put him ahead of the pack for the FF spot ?
Plus Archer has the potential of further improvement on his side.

But let's see what he has first, sure.

Have you seen the massive frames of the olympic sprinters - thighs, shoulders etc ..?

They are huge ,, and it just makes them go quicker.

Some are also long jumpers (like Carl Lewis) - so they have not lost any agility either.

The rugby player Lomu ? .. was about 130kgs and could run 100 metres at round 11 secs..

times have changed. sprinters were huger in the 90s. much much leaner now. but yeah some big units can move quick. according to schneids he has really improved his distance running. i certainly like the kid.

Are we talking about the Daniel Archer that was murdered tonight in the same breath as olympic sprinters.

Olympic sprinters in the 90s certainly did.

Poor bugger had to endure a big night tonight.
One can only hope that it was 'character forming'.

He will not make our first ruck choice that's for sure - but we were talking about the vacant FF spot (really who has secured it ?).

A full forward needs to provide effective chase and pressure too... do you need to be a top line footballer to do that or to kick a measly goal a match ?

Only those who take drugs would see that as a tall order and be comfortable with accepting status quo..

Peake, McQualter, Geary .. we've seen enough of them to make judgement
calls on, whether they will take St Kilda further this year or in the future .. but I'm not writing Archer in or out just yet as a possible contender for the vacant FF spot.

Not sure of the love for him as a ruck...except to spell that is.

Expect him to get some cameo senior games this year, but he is more about our future than this year.
ignore the Dons game...he was throw to the wolves in a position that he is not suited in...and had to try and beat two true ruckman too boot.

I have seen enough to suggest that he has a future as a KEY FORWARD.

as a comparison jarrad grant at the dogs had a 2.89 20m sprint. so hes a metre behind him over 20m but grant is really quick.

at 193cm thats just too short to be a ruckman. so certainly shouldnt be judged on his rucking.

if hes going to make it will have to be as a key fwd.

You could be right plugger. Its just an opinions game at this stage as he hasnt shown enough either way yet. Its a bit rough throwing a 193cm 19 yo in the ruck. Thats really a slaughterhouse job and probably not a fair reflection. But if hes going to make it hell need to do it as a goalkicking fwd IMO. So to do that hed need to go and kick 50 + goals at Sandy from FF this year. So that wont be easy.
