Hasn't Selwood been on a flank/wing this year though?

Yes, Selwood has not been in the centre square much this year.

Dunstan is a good signing on the right money... like anyone

Too slow, unfit, doesnt get enough ball, doesnt spread, one sided....cmon!
He has worked on his fitness and game and starting to get the rewards. Good on Luke. His deficiencies were real, and still has some weaker points to his game, but he has developed well from mid season.
It would be interesting to compare Luke Dunstan with Joel Selwood statistically. I'm thinking they're pretty close.

It's ironic that Selwood is considered a champion, possibly all-Australian captain, and yet Dunstan is really not even appreciated by his own fans.

In addition to the kicks, marks, hard ball gets and tackles there's also the blocking, shepherding and physical 1%'ers. Dunstan would be highly appreciated at a number of clubs.
I'm not particularly a huge fan of Dunstan. I think he is not consistent and swapped out with 50 other afl players all in the average to occassionally good contributor range. I like him because he is our player. He has done good things and plenty of very average things. He has never played at a level that ANY ONE would consider him to be a champion.
But, he has time. Unfortunately, he will never be.
But I do hope he continues to contribute.

I dare you to list Joel Selwoods STATS on here beside Dunstans. LOL!!!!
Go on! Do it!
here you go.
pretty close but i reckon an impartial eye would say dunstan shades him

Riiiggghhhtttt.
So you meant this year only!?
Ok, so Selwood has played 45% game in the centre compared to previous years.
You cannot call Dunstan a champion for almost as good in 1 season or denigrate a champion because he has lower stats in one season.
I like Dunstan. He's not the greatest player on earth. He's like David Armitage, who has been a faithful bull just plugging along, charging slowly, grinding out as needed, not a champion but we love the guy.

Dunstan ain't no Selwood.

He was very poor today

Again not enough of the footy for a mid, and used it poorly.

Didn’t denigrate Selwood or call Dunstan a champion. You wanted a stats comparison so I linked it. Based on their latest form you’d Say Dunstan shades him. That’s why he ain’t getting as much time in the middle.

No, they didn’t want Selwood in the middle

Because they have a contested beast in there... Danger

And because he’s a bit banged up and they want to prolong his career.

Thanks for providing the stats DesertSaint

My point is that Selwood is recognized for putting his body on the line, and doing the hard stuff like win contested possession, tackle, block and a myriad of 1%. He is highly regarded by his teammates, his club and the media. The fact is that Dunstan plays a similar role, but is nowhere near as well appreciated by his own fans.

Some clubs hold this type of player in very high regard, and quite frankly I wouldn't be surprised if a competitor offered him a very lucrative offer.
