The 'Bump' on Fisher

Post: # 903011Post TriColourDisciple »

None of the commentaters questioned it on TV, but to me it looked very reportable. Davies didn't have eyes for the ball at all. What do you think?

Looked contested to me, nothing in it. If Brown doesn't get 4 weeks though...

The 'trial by media' commentry panel had handed Kingy a 4 weeks suspension by the end of the broadcast for his efforts...haven't heard boo about Brown. It was 20m off the ball FFS!

Agree - absolutely nothing in it, jsut one of those things and Fish unfortunately came off second best.

But what a comeback.

Please...let's win a Premiership before GEELONG!!!! (O.k., so we've missed that opportunity...maybe let's win the next one before Geelong????)

Yea, I'm fine with the Neon bump, it was just in play, even though for some reason he acted as if he was injured?

The one I will want to see reported is Brown. That was crap.

Nothing wrong with the Fisher bump. Brown is gone.

No dramas with this one. Good footy contest! Otherwise they should all start wearing skirts and bibs, which we never wanna see happen.

I dunno, i'm confused on the interpretation. Looked to me that Davis took his eyes off the ball and decided to go the bump instead of the ball. Plus I can't remember who but last week a player got reported for hitting someone in the head negligently.

I'd be surprised if he gets reported but its an annoying rule to try and understand.

Great effort from both players and people say the game is getting soft. The speed of todays game means legal bumps can stillo bloody well hurt.

didnt think it was reportable at the time but having watched the replay he does play the man , he then pretended to be injured, cos he was sitting on the bench with a wry grin on his face, probably thinking that fish wouldnt be back.

Unfortunately for Davis - in this age of family friendly football - he had the option of going for the ball but chose to 'bump' and make head high - albeit accidental - contact. Should get 2 reduced to 1 - whch seems to be the norm these days for that type of hit.

Agree. Nothing in it, excellent contest with an unfortunate result.

In traditional footy, it was a fair contest. However, after watching it several times now, Davis did not attempt to mark and as the rules say, if there is head high contact, the player will be cited. I think he will be cited but may get off with a reprimand and some points against him.

As for Leigh Brown on Roo, I would like to see some other vision on that one.

Milan unfortunately is correct.

Davis hit Fisher in the head, IMHO it was in the contest and accidental, but it may get a look at the MRP.

Hope it doesn't, it was a good hard contest and just bad luck.

Lance or James??

Herein lies another test case for the 'new' tribunal system.

According to the new rules, a head high hit when the player chooses not to contest the footy will result in weeks.

If he dosen't get at least one week then another example of the 'bizarreness' and inconsistency of the system.

Just curious,
If Fisher's head was connected by Davis (and from teh vision I've seen on the replay there is no doubt that it was), even accidentaly, why wasn't he awarded a free kick?

Davis's original intent was to contest the mark but when he realised he wasn't going to make it he took his eyes off the ball, curled up and went for the bump.

His shoulder clearly hit Fisher in the head concussing him.

But no doubt, seeing that he is a Collingwood player and Collingwood is responsible for the largest gates and TV viewing audiences, the match review panel will rule it as only minor impact and thus not reportable.

Head high contact however caused has always a free kick in the AFL but then Plugger needs to defend his umpires incompetence with his own.
