At this point he'd be close to top 3 in the B&F.
Absolute freak.
I hope the current players realise how lucky they are to be playing with him.

I would have started with anyone who played a blinder against Mebourne and then struggled to get a touch the following week. Anyone can look good against a crap side. It's how you play when the pressure's on that really counts.

Dropping Dal Santo isn't just a wake up call for him, it's a wake up call for the entire side. From this point on every player will know their place is under threat if they don't perform. You can drop players like Blake, Milne, L Fisher, Gwilt as often as you want but guys like Dal won't get the mes...

I think it crunch time for both of the Clarkes. Lyon has to be brutally honest with both of them at the end of the year. X has been on the list for 8 seasons and we seem to get less out of him each year. Raph just hasn't developed the way a player of his supposed talent should. The time has come for...

I agree with Skeptic. It's more a problem of talent development than talent identification. All of the players mentioned in the original post had enough natural talent to make it. That they didn't is partly due to club inability to get the best out of them, partly due to the player for not making th...

As I posted elsewhere, to me Ferguson is a taller version of Brett Voss. Although he's been used mainly in defense I believe he could go ok as a medium sized marking target up forward.
I really hope he can make the most of this because I think he can play but he might not get too many other chances.

Agree with the sentiment but if Harvs, Lenny or Ball go in any harder we may witness a death on the weekend.
I'd just like to see 22 blokes have a crack for 4 quarter. Would be nice for a change.

Go Fergs! I, along with many, think this guy deserves a chance. Reminds me of a taller version of Brett Voss (or for those of my vintage - Dacid Grant). Most of the time he's played in the past he's been forced to play a key position against taller, stronger opponents. Hopefully this time he'll make...

Four way tie between Lockett, Harvey, Stewart and Baldock.
I've never seen a player influence more games or win more matches off his own boot than Plugger so I'd be tempted to give him the nod.

It's hard to compare Goddard to Ablett or Hodge because he plays a different role. FWIW I think his foot skills are as good as anyone in the AFL. How many other players can hit a player on the chest over 50 metres off one step on either foot? Also, his decision making is excellent. It's why we try t...

Ross Lyon seems to prefer having two specialist ruckman so if King is fit he will play with M Gardiner, which leaves Kosi to play forward.
That would still leave Kosi, C Gardiner & Gehrig forward. Would like to see Allen get a go but it won't happen with the other three talls still there.

A couple of other good ones:
1992 vs Collingwood - we won by a point at the G (the Craig Devonport match)
1991 vs Adelaide at Moorabbin - Plugger kicked 12.

I was in Perth a couple of years ago. If you didn't know any better you'd think there were only two teams in the competition. Media don't want to know about anyone else over there.
Nice place though.

Ever since the AFL started getting $700 million for the TV rights they couldn't care what games get shown. Since 9 got the rights last time the only Perth games shown on free to air are Friday night games and games involving Collingwood and Essendon. If there is ever a choice between a Melbourne gam...

I recall Kevin Sheedy saying at the time of the 2001 draft that if Essendon had had the no 1 pick they would have taken Ball. All pre draft guesstimates had Ball and Hodge as the first two picks. Judd was never considered a potential no1 because of his shoulder problems. Hindsight is a wonderful thi...

Isn't what West did to X much the same as what Baker did to Farmer? Blocking, shepherding - call it what you want. Nobody else gets even 1 week for it. Bakes effectively got seven weeks because of an absence of video evidence.

Pace over the ground is one thing (and I don't we have it in abundance) but speed of ball movement is another and that is where we are getting ourselves in huge trouble. Most of the problem seems to come from players second guessing themselves and not trusting their instincts. We don't seem to play ...

Rod Owen anyone?
Debuted same year (but a few rounds earlier than Plugger). Remember him kicking 5 goals in the first quarter against North in 88. Not bad for a guy who was 185 cm and never the same after he did his knee as a 16 year old.

I'm not sure if it was SEN or AW but it was said last night that StKilda's offer to Kosi was heavily performanced based and he wanted something that was guaranteed. I'd be surprised if they don't find some middle ground. It's just a pain having to sit through the wheeling and dealing.
