Name needed

Trying to recall the names of our boys who went to Hawthorn and have given good service.

Joel Smith
B Guerra,
and argueably the best (whose name evades me). He wore #29 for them and played wing and back line.

Great to see another 'ol Saint coming out of the woodwork so to speak. The Junction Oval holds many fond memories for me and I have done some of them to death on posts some years ago. Definately do not want to upstage you Loris. I "saw'" my first game there in the 1923/24 season as a babe ...

Plugger, Spider, and now Ball.
All three disgruntled for seemingly different reasons. All three were/are champs. All three had different coaches and committees.
Just coincidence?

Yes he was and so was his family who were disappointed when we grabbed him.
But who remembers when he was bagged loud and long by several on this forum who were too blind to see the future champion in him ?

Ablett gets twice as long to dispose the ball than every other player on the ground Not really-- even though he annoys me to the hilt. Just watch how he keeps his arms free 99% of the time and how he spins around in the tackle while looking for a teammate to handball to. He sa mastered that art and...

I think the media made too much of the one pointer over the Pies. It was played and analysed a dozen or more times even on the day. They do it because of the tight finish which is good for TV viewing but for me it seems to promote a 'wobbly kick' mentality and we need to break out of that. Even duri...

Hear hear !
I have always claimed that ONE of the factors that cost us in 1997 was that Stan Alves (a great coach) openly said to his boys to go out and savor the moment. He led the way by appearing a lot on TV. I would rather have had the boys locked away from the glare of the media.
