Re: I'm shattered !

Seriously WO - why to you post this extreme rubbish? "soft gumby" really? that's an insult. Grow up. There is no super talented FB there for us to waltz in and sign up. Our defensive problem this yr were due to many causes, e.g. poor ruck work therefore couldn't have frist use of ball, the...

Re: Winmar delisted? strategy from here

So why now??? Lewis Pierce? Pierce seems to think it was Elshaug arguing his case during the extra time. Scotty seemed to be doing a lot of talking as well. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they had a mature KPD lined up, but opted for Pierce with the knowledge their player would likely be availab...

Re: The under 25's XXV - The future ins't so frightening...

HInsight is a wonderful thing and selections etc etc. Fact. I stood next to my brother at quarter time at the 09 GF and said "if we are not careful we are going to kick ourselves out of this". We lost by two kicks in a match that Geelong should have been out of by half time. That they wer...

Re: Why BJ left St.Kilda: Facts

From an impeccable source here they are: (1) Better facilities on offer at Essendon Fields new facility about to open next year. (2) Chance to play in the midfield (3) Chance to play in a premiership Also, he was offered MORE money at other clubs than Essendon, although I don't know which clubs the...

Re: The under 25's XXV - The future ins't so frightening...

Without getting into the history wars, I think the main weakness we had for a long time was our whole management & approach to list development. We lacked a strong leader in that area, we lacked a clear strategy and the funds to operate it effectively. As a consequence we had head coaches with t...

Re: The under 25's XXV

With a few obvious exceptions - most well over 25 - the swans are a team of ok to good to very good players (at best) as well. Important thing is how well they gel, give their all, and follow instructions. Again, from my previous post Kennedy, Jetta, Jack, Hannebury, Grundy, Reid, Rohan, Bird, Park...

Re: Welcome to the St Kilda FC Tom Hickey

This decision is very worrying. What the St Kilda brains trust has decided is that Hickey in terms of value to the team can be equated with Brendan Goddard because that is the compensatory pick we've used to get him. I share the views of many others and hope he turns out to be the superstar that Wa...

Re: Next Move

I really, really hope that Pelchen is as canny as he is reputed to be in picking prospects. I also hope Watters and Pelchen have something up their sleeve for next week. We've been dealt a major blow losing Goddard. There is no doubt about that. He was one of our best and now he's a bomber.... What...

Re: Goddard Says.....

Goddard went for the money, simple as that. Good luck to him. This BS about chance to play for a premiership is just that; complete BS. Bombers are no closer to a flag than about half a dozen mid-tier teams between 7 and 14th. He was a good player, not a great player for us....not within a bulls roa...

Sainter K...I can understand your distraught over BJ leaving. I am pissed too. However to be fair to Pelchin when he arrived most players had contracts and.or extensions in place............and it was tight, and indeed from not just tight but we were heading OVER the salary cap. If we paid BJ overs...

Re: Congratulations to SW, CP and St.Kilda

This sort of list management doesn't deliver premierships! What it does is deliver quality players to other teams. The names Barry Hall, Luke 'Scumbag' Ball, The Wakelins, Dean Rice, Tony Lockett, Val Perovic, Brent Guerra ringing any bells? It's when you're on the winning end of the deal that ther...

Don't let the truth or facts get in the way of a defence argument mounted by apologists First Ball was hopeless Then Lyon was over rated Dawson was useless Next we know Goddard will be no good?! Re: Brendon Goddard set to sign with Essendon

Yes I do, we need to pay someone, it's not a mill a year. Who should be paid the most then? Did you think the swans would win another flag within 5 years in 2008 say? You will no doubt be proven correct given we have won 1 in 100+ years but I still think we have something there. Again, what has bj ...

Re: Jamie Cripps & Kobby Stevens swap club

The issue with cripps is that most here are looking at his last game, which was ok. Pior to that, he did very little to show any great qualities. Came on as sub and pinched a few goals here & there on the end of handballs sitting in the forward line when we were going well. Time will tell, but ...

Re: Brendon Goddard set to sign with Essendon

Do you think o'keefe at the swans would have been part of the next swans flag when he was 27? I don't believe he had a norm smith at that stage. Stupid comparison. 1. O'keefe was key contributor to that club, BJ has done very little over the last two yrs. 2. BJ is a restricted Free agent, o'keefe d...

Re: Apparently we have reduced the offer to BJ

P66 is right. Can't understand why some are complaining. This is an important watershed moment for the club. Its key that we stand firm. We should not look to over pay players anymore. We need to have the flexibility to continually re-new our list, and secure and keep even spread of quality players....

Most of our losses against top 8 sides were quite big: Fremantle -15 points Hawthorn -35 WCE -30 Adelaide -4 Nth Melb -33 Swans -29 Collingwood -6 Geelong -42 points So that's 5 top 8 teams that we lost to by 5 goals or more. Not too good at all unfortunately. In the Hawthorn, WCE, Nth & ...
